As I was practicing hygiene in the shower this morning, I found my mind wandering, and I found myself thinking "Could I send a letter to the president?", which then lead to "Well, Valentine's Day is coming up, could I send him a Valentine?" and then I wondered "Well, why couldn't I send a valentine to all the congressmen and senators, too, and ask 'em to show a little love and bring our boys home from Iraq? And what would happen if EVERYONE did this?"

I mean, I don't know if you can dig it or not, man, and I don't even know if you CAN send letters to the president or congressmen, but I figure if you can, we can get operation 'Show the Love, Stop the War' rolling.

Wrote out my letter. Still have to get the card, though. Anyone else who wants to join in this war-stopping love fest can get the address at whitehouse.gov. I realize a bunch of valentine's might not actually STOP the war, but it'll show that people want the war to be stopped. If we all do it, we'll see some kinda results, I'm sure. Anyone lacking inspiration can take a look at my letter.

Dear Mr. President, if you've the time
Please take it to read this letter of mine
I realize that you're a busy man
Trying every day to do the best you can
To keep this nation running right
So as I write to you tonight
I'll try hard not to be a bore
My one request is that you stop this war
If not today, tomorrow's fine
But if you ask me, it's high past time
That we brought our boys back home to stay
Why not show some love this valentine's day
Give a gift to the mothers, the daughters and sons
To the wives and the soldiers, every one
It's here I'll stop, though I could write more
Show the love, stop the war
