Mitt Romney 'Shellshocked' After Lost Election, Adviser Says

See the full story at...

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/0 ... f=politics

But the gist of the story is...

"As evidence of the Romney campaign's sincere belief that the former Massachusetts governor would emerge victorious on Tuesday night, the Boston Globe reported Thursday that it had planned to fete Romney's election with an eight-minute display of fireworks over Boston Harbor.

Romney also told reporters on his campaign plane earlier this week that while he had written a victory speech, he hadn't prepared concession remarks."

Open your eyes and behold America shifty!

i am relieved it went the way that it went

it is like he (and others) really believe he represents GOD'S plans?

no grandiosity there

that is some of what worries me about religions

i have posted this here recently, but i am compelled to post it again (it is something i read someplace)

"philosophy is questions that may never be answered. religion is answers that may never be questioned."

His own circle of advisers kept him in a bubble to keep from him the reality that he was likely to lose. For Mitt, the medium (in this case, Fox News) was the message, albeit a faulty one.

I have a huge trust issue with ANYONE who claims to know "what God wants" because it usually coincides with that person's own personal wishes. Obama won...maybe THAT'S what God intended. We'll never know.

I have huge trust issues with anyone who lies so easily, so often and so automatically. So sorry, Shifty Shellshock. You didn't win. Apparently, there's a lot of people like me who didn't care to drink your Kool-Ade.

Sue, I feel the same way. w said it, look where he led us. The texas gov perry said it too, maybe next he'll spout that god has told him it's time to "seed."

One of my very conservative co-workers has ranted in the past about seceding from the Union. I advised him to be careful what he wishes for as we californians are, and in the future will be what he calls liberals. We are included in the "liberal states." And that if he truely was intent on joining his "kind" it may well happen that he finds himself in some sort of a mordern day exodus. "Hello u-haul, how much for a one-way truck rental to the bible belt?"

Agnes, your quote is mostly true about religion never being questioned. But at least one time in history the "truth" changed. Martin Luther was this monk/author/preacher/parent/professor/person- who called bs on the decree of the church and the pope and their notion that with the right amount of money given to the church - all is forgiven. Luther preached for a few years that forgivness, and heaven that came with it were freely given by God thru faith alone. His views drew quite a following to his church before the pope and even the emperor stepped up to try to shut him down. I'm sure they were thinking, "How can we do good works when people are not fearful enough to give us all kinds of money?" The book burners of the day did what they do. Luther chose not to recant, and even nailed a list of the bs on the church door (95 thsis). He asked at his trial for them to present proof from the bible supporting their bs. He was promptly convicted of heresy, excommunicated, and had a date set with the inquisioner before he got "kidnaped" and went into hiding till the poo storm subsided.

As if all that was not radical enough back in the 1500's, he met and married a nun he got to know while on the lamb, and they had 6 children. Oh yeah, and to help get a little light shined on the papaly purported poo pile - he translated the bible into german so common people could see how he formed his objections that became known as the reformation.

Being raised and educated as a Lutheran may have helped form my desire to look at things I see as social problems and dream of ways to change them. I am still a restless reformer.

It's hard to keep the faith. I can't say if any religion is true or right. That same conservative co-worker I mentioned above has told me so many times that if I don't believe every single word of the bible, I should throw the whole thing out. I told him he's saying to throw the baby out with the bath water. I guess I'm an admited heretic, is that so wrong? Well at least I'm not alone.

i am a bit sleep deprived and it was kind of a zooey day and i probably should wait until i got some sleep to try and say anything...but noooo, i come in here and read stuff and want to say something now...so if it is more all over the place than usual well....
the bible i believe and understand to be THE book when it comes to christianity, and all the denominations are pretty much from someone saying hey, that ain't quite right...this over here is the right and true message of the thing. so yes the various denominations sprang from someone questioning something, and then re-forming over there. there are people who take the bible as the literal word of god (the bible can be pretty zany at times) and the doctrines born from that (and all its interpretations) can be a pretty weird mental trip, in my experience. and then those who overreach a bit (saying stuff along the lines as you say, pay enough money and your sins are forgiven or whatever). and there are the folks who have pared down the doctrines (updating stuff) as time goes by adjusting here adjusting there lightening up a bit to better suit the times i guess, making it like a make pretend religion (from the perspective of someone who grew up in a strict and as literal an interpretation as could be arrived at, the bible being considered the word of GOD and all)..but in the prior mentioned case it seems more like a type of tradition or something like christmas or something (not saying anything good or bad about that) and then like, there are the folks from the uu church? i don't know anything about them really from the inside, but from the outside..there used to be a church nearby...and i would see ALL kinds of people would go there....hippies, gay people, pagans...and it seemed more like a school of philosophy, i guess.

i guess there are attachments to traditions and stuff...well okay...and if you take a positive message from it (i would call that looking at it philosophically)...well okay! but its (the bible) being considered the word of GOD as opposed to a record of a bunch of humans trying to figure stuff out, that is where things get as i see it, a little hinky.

Fave over 12 years or longer this space cowboy would love to have New England say to DC, "We will pay Social Security, but we will defend ourselves with our National Guard. Maybe we will compromise and send Senators and Reps to keep on on the mess you are making." Over time other things have come up that would be added: having a Public Banking System such as North Dakota has had for over 90 years, which could help fund things in New New England, like Vermont's Single Payer Health Care, even if only as a Public Option, and our Schools.

Wondering about the Bible, agree with what I was once told it meant, Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. Find it interesting that the last advice given to John in Revelations 22:10-11, was basically let them be by living and letting them die.
