The article in 'The Washington Post' was great! But the last 2 or 3 paragraphs, REALLY made me think.

It sunk in yesterday reading a 1998 National Geographic. They did a story on 'Frederick Remington'. Quite lengthy, bio stuff....The artist was born, and died? in my hometown Ogdensburg....(home of the Museum)....What I didn't know, was that he died at the age of 48, from a ruptured appendix......That seems young to die. But look at all the Priceless paintings (bronze statues) he left to the world....

Ex2...Randy Dennis. The mother from the movie 'Rocky'. Rocky wasn't sapposed to live past 6 yrs. Yet he died at 16. Randy had another son, that died from AIDS at just 30 yrs...When people talked to her of, poor, poor Randy...Such bad luck...She doesn't look at it that way...I wish I could quote her, but she non-chalontly spoke of splendid times she had with them...Good, and bad...Her boys lived life to the fullest. What could anyone else ask for? She replied......

rbrown, thanks for that. I've always felt that way. Life is too short to not live it to its fullest. Some people just coast through life and watch the world go by. I don't understand it. I don't want to be the person who says on their death bed that i wish i would have done this or that. I would rather depart this stage of life knowing that I did my best to fulfill my dreams and have the stories and memories to float on on the way out. sorry for the ramble there. Guess I got carried away.

***Just realized an Arlo quote about Rambling Jack Elliot...(paraphrasing) "Some men do, what some men dream of doing"...And it hit home, that it reminds me of my Dad. He's 79, and is more active in business, and play, than ever. His idea of getting away, is spending his vacation in Newfoundland. He used to hunt Moose. Now he shoots them with a camcorder...In fact, he recently shot footage in Maine, of a cow moose and her calf. I know him well (both pices) and he wouldn't be doing anything, he didn't like...

*He smoked pot with me and my sister Emily once...Em and I were blisterd, after a few bowls...He smoked a bunch, got up and said, I'll NEVER see what people see in this...It doesn't do a thing for me!!!!
