Oh k, here's my thoughts for the day...

With the way the state of the world is today, it's no wonder that the media is having a feeding frenzy over terrorist possibilities when a plane falls out of the sky. It's horrible enough that it happened, can't they let it rest at that, instead of constant speculating about all these other horrid possibilities, many of which aren't even plausible???!

Does Mr. Guthrie have any thoughts on this? As someone who has lived through so many chaotic events, and 2 wars (well I don't know if the Gulf War was really a "war" per se...but still) and also has to deal with the media, although thankfully on a lesser scale then this, I was curious as to what a wise sage such as Arlo has to say, and if there are any comforting thoughts he could give us. Espcially his younger fans, like me, who haven't really ever had to go through all this before (the idea of war, the fear of war, that kind of thing) and the jumping to conclusions at all kinds of things?

It's days like this that make me just want to turn off the damn news and blast "The Motorcycle Song" really loud. Take me away from the blues Arlo! Give us some good-soundin' news...thankz fer listenin'. <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/peace.gif" width=16 height=16>

Thanks Levi, but I meant ADG's thoughts on the media NOW, since this event has happened, and also the whole anthrax scare. I didn't really see anything Arlo stated that answered my ques about the media feeding frenzy. I may not have been looking at the right thread, I dunno, but the "From The Front" thread didn't really answer my initial concerns as I stated in this page.

I also am just interested in ANYONE'S p.o.v. on this, not just Arlo's, as the man is certainly busy and I'm not really asking him to answer ME. That would be rather arrogant (and American <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/hmph.gif" width=15 height=15> ) of me. I'm sorry that I put it across that way. I think what I mean to say is: what does everyone think of this issue, and what does anyone think Arlo might think of this issue ? lol.

I guess that's a real confusing thing to ask...oh well...hope it made some sense.

well okay it doesn't really address the issues you raised but it's good stuff anyway.

shannon...i'm definitely not wise, but my advise to you is..when you feel like turning off CNN and blasting the "motorcycle song"...do it. we didn't used to have news 24/7...we had walter cronkite on cbs giving us the facts as best he knew them each night. so, he didn't have hours to spend speculating about all kinds of possibilites. now, you have a pile of people that have to justify being on the air around the clock...once they've stated the facts, they have to find other things to say...and other talking heads to discuss it with. it's really not healthy, mentally, to listen to it for too long.

Shannon, the good news is in the music. Arlo said, "trust yourself." Your instincts are good. You came here, didn't you?

ShannonO, I've never posted here before. (Hi All!!!) But your message touched me and I felt like I wanted to respond. I'm 36 and have 5 little kids. The past 2 months have been trying, to say the least. I feel very responsible for the input my kids get as far as the media is concerned. I don't allow the endless media negativity that you get from 24 hour news. So much speculation!! It needlessly scares kids (and adults, too). I listen to the radio and read the paper enough to be informed - and no more. I play a lot of music - lots of Arlo - for the kids. Music is therapeutic, especially in times like these, I think. Crank that Motorcycle Song if it makes you feel good.
The news is so overwhelming right now. I find myself reading the posts here a lot lately. There's a lot of positive energy here. Take care. Peace.
