The African American veteran impressed me. Him being the first n all...And the fact he's still here to tell his story, and get the recognition he, SO deserves. As for all our great Veteran's of War, and ESPECIALLY those who fought the good fight, so many yrs. ago. WE SALUTE YOU!!! For it is you, who are the Champions of the world.

Home with a broken toe this morning, so I was able to see (on CNN) the ceremony at the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial. The last "big" ceremony there that will be attended by veterans of the attack. It is a major spiritual experience to be at the memorial, even on a regular day.

I would like to share with you, because they are unable to see today's ceremonies: John W. Caldwell. Best Dad in the World, to me. [Sorry, Bump. <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15>] He wasn't in Hawaii when the attacks happened, but joined immediately and was stationed there, in the Seabees. Was on the beach at Iwo Jima (pinned down for three days) and Okinawa. He's with me today but doesn't know what day it is.

Also my father-in-law, Clyde Rury, served at Pearl and up through the Marianas and Marshalls, to the same islands. We lost him in March.

Yes, Ceas, even watching on the t.v. that ceromony was a tear-jerker. Makes a person SO proud to live in this Country. I lost a friend awhile back (to lung cancer) and he was a WW2 Vet. He was on the Island, when the Japanese surrendered...1942???

RB, absolutely. What you hear from them is definitely not what you learned in school, or hear through the media. We can't repay the debt, but we can try to understand.

Great. There's finally something worth watching on TV, and me without cable for a few months. It was worth all of it, getting the car on the road, but still. Timing. Man.
