so a rumour was started that a flight was cancelled at the kandahar airport...which naturally caused the passengers waiting in line to kill the minister of tourism..then the plane was announced as ready..

WTF!!

It was only the first class passengers, they are the ones who get to sit INSIDE the plane. They were pissed cos they thought they may have to sit on the wings with the peasants.Air-rage....happens all the time.

well sometimes, when kids play, the kids who are watching, not playing, get all excited & wish they were playing, too.. they get all jealous, maybe had a bad day & thier big sis stole their breakfast toast, or something, but anyway, instead of enjoying the kids playing, they forget why they are there & whack on each other, or, like an old, bearded Austrian dead guy said, "ssometimes, a cigar is just a cigar"

p.s. update on Afghani "air rage" apparently, the Tourism Minister, told the 500 peolpe waiting for the plane, that, he was taking the plane, to India, w/ his staff, & they could all go sit on their shish ka bobs. They responded by expressing their opinion, about that, all over his body....

Cea's right. "Hope" would have been a much better choice of word than "trust." Semantics -- and also intentions -- can be easily misunderstood. What I write often isn't agreeing or disagreeing with anything, but adding to the mix. It's just "these are some of the thoughts I've been having on these subjects."

Me, I'd be happier if a lot of things were different in this country, especially when it comes to politics. (I didn't vote for Bush in the first place, and seeing him cut federal funding to states for college tuition programs makes me want to <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/puke.gif" width=45 height=15> )Hoping that everything will work out OK is not easy.

Of course, I actually still believe in all that silly stuff like peace, love, and understanding ... I mean as action, as a way of life. In my life, it does not get me a seven million dollar condo in Houston and a new Maseratti, that kind of thinking -- or even a split-level in Lake Hill and a Saab. More's the pity. I never thought integrity and poverty were supposed to be synonymous. I'm still pretty sure they don't have to be.

I'm like you, Muffy, I value & protect my optimism, that's why I sometimes wax misty-eyed, about the Guthries, they re-charge my idealistic batteries, as do fellow blunderites!!
