There was an interesting article in the paper yesterday that really made me question again the justices and injustices of this world we all share. The title of the article read "Rebels leave town where they are accused of eating victims". Yes, that's right, these PEOPLE not only killed innocent folks, but then ate them, and now they are off to find another town to munch on. And now the U.N. is sending in troops to guard the city until administrators from a rival rebel group come in to oversee things. So there will be no punishment for any crimes commited and those still living are again to fend for themselves. This is all taking place in the Congo by the way. I guess the thing I don't understand is how does the U.S. Govt. decide who it's going to "help"? I mean there are so many places that are asking for our help and we ignore them, (Tibet would be a pretty big example of that) and then there are the places that we do barge into that have no desire for our "help" but would rather go about life as always - different from our system, but happy all the same as it works for them. Can anyone explain this to me because I really don't understand it at all?

Ters, that's a very good question. I was all in favor of going into Afghanistan, although I would also be in favor of doing much more to rebuild the country and giving more of the help they can use. I'd say with Iraq it's just all about oil. No one in their right mind questions that Saddam Hussein is a bad, bad man, but how much of a threat can he be with this microscope on him? NK..also elected to the axis of evil has nukes and we're going to seek a diplomatic solution there. I would guess that village in the Congo doesn't have much in the way of oil fields.

I posted on the wrong topic before, but I would say that there is some truth to these stories, I am not certaiin that the horror of eating one's foe is nearly as real among some of these folks as it is for us.
