I'm going to be in Florida attending my daughter's wedding on 2/15, but I'm posting this for anyone in the NY or SF area who hasn't heard about it and might want to go. They haven't got a location yet, at least in NY, so I hope they get to have it. I'm sure that there's resistance in NY to something on this scale.

Pat, thanks! That site also has a place on the left where you can find local happenings. It will be much, much smaller, but there's a march in Dallas on the same day.

Just got an email from Women Against War, about the difficulty in obtaining a permit for the event in NYC. My understanding is that it WILL happen... permit or no... I'll be there....

Here is the text of the email I just got:

United for Peace and Justice filed a federal lawsuit Wednesday morning against the City of New York over its refusal to issue us a march permit for February 15. We had requested a permit to assemble near the United Nations, march past the UN, and then march through Manhattan to a rally location near Central Park. The City countered by saying that we could have a "stationary event" but not a march.

We have a hearing scheduled for Friday at 3PM at the Federal Courthouse in Manhattan. If you are in the New York City area, you can help defend your right to public protest by joining a rally outside the courthouse beginning at 2PM.

Totally off topic, but I just noticed that bit in your quote.. I was searching for pictures of Pete 2 days ago and one of the first ones I found was in an article about peace protests from october last year...
