Here in East Tennessee, we have seen many hundreds of local reservest already called up to go serve, most have been told they are in for one year or longer if the goverment wants to keep them. Yellow ribbons are to be seen everywhere, wives and mothers stand and cry as little children wave goodbye. I was wondering what might be happening in other parts of the country.

I am thinking we will soon witness another Bay of Tonkin, only this time in the gulf and perhaps not even from Iraq....These are dangerous times and our goverment appears to trying to contol the flames of war by speading gasoline, of course as always I remain just a country boy observing from the side lines.

So how about it. What indications of war are taking place where you live?

The state that I would say is most affected would be North Carolina. They have, if memory serves, Pope Air Force Base, Fort Bragg (Army), Cherry Point, Camp Lejuene (Marines), Seymour Johnson Air Force.

It's a wonder there's anybody (but women and children) left there.

They're just about emptying Fort Hood in Central Texas--18,000 going from there, I think. And Pickle, it's not just men anymore. Each wave of departures is on our local news, and there are lots of women leaving their children with the dads this time around.

I live and bartend next to 3 Mile Island, Harrisber Intern. Airport and am a stones throw from Fort Indian Town Gap and other bases....
not looking good from here...seems deployment has already started from here and the numbers may reflect the first 250,000 will be from Penna.

I have a friend who was or still is at Fort Hood, he is a tank commander and was in desert storm....

I had posted a couple of years ago about a strange craft I had seen flying out at area 51, of course my UFO had landed at Indian Springs Military Installion so it was'nt a true UFO. I watched a special report on the "Predator" drone last night and sure enough my UFO was the star, and to think I knew it when it was but another strange craft flying out of area 51.

Many reservists are being called up in my area, too... and many of these reservists are regularly employed in the Public Safety sector... what will happen locally, if many of our police, corrections, fire and health workers are called to active duty?

Lots of reservists called up in Ohio, too. So far, both my sons (Marine and Airman) are still in training, and not ready to be deployed, but the Airman is talking about possibly June. My Marine is leaving Monday for Camp Geiger (Lejeune) in NC for School of Infantry training, then Security forces training in VA. At least another couple of months for him.

I am very afraid this thing is gonna happen and soon, with or without the "help" of the rest of the world. Sad, sad days.

I get e-mailed govermant jobs and there is a big demand for workers on miltary bases, the Navy offers a $6,000 bonus for undertakers.

I believe many have been activated and already shipped out from Ft. Drum... RB follows that area more closely than I do, since it's in his back yard (literally!)

Nathen... that really sucks... sounds like they are anticipating a LOT of deaths. not a good sign at all.
