I wanted to start this thread, as I couldn't find an old one. But the old one was about dedicating the club in Todd's honor. There's lots of things I'd love to honor Todd for, but I just don't think it'd be the book club. Altho he was more than kind to me about our old one...LOL...Todd just wasn't the book club kind. I always felt honored he didn't tease me anymore than he did about it in the first place....

**Don't get me wrong. Todd & I had disscussed books many times. Favorite authors, suggested reading in our high-schools (where we were not that far apart in age)? But he admitted to me he wasn't into a online type of book thing. Maybe we could just not dedicate it at all???? Suggestions would help. I just feel wierd dedicating the BBC(Blunderite Book Club) (yeah new names are welcome item also) in Todd's honor as I knew he personally wasn't into it. In fact a very good friend of mine (and an old book club member at that) made a joke to me about Todd not doing the book club. It still brings a smile, as she did hit it on the head. Ral...

ANYHOW my author I thought would be controversial for a change....'Andy Rooney' I figured folks around here either like him or hate him. Not much room for inbetween, with Andy. The book is called 'My War' and I think subject matter of the book falls on hard times. What's not to be learned from disscussing war??? Like Andy or not!!

NTM it made the best sellers list. That might actually be the first book that ever hit the book club that also made that list. I do miss the old club, and disscussing books can be fun. I more less enjoy reading more in winter. (if that helps anyone) I also don't much enjoy a book, unless I have someone to share it with....I've seen great agruements spring up from differances in opinion. It's in those differances that we all can learn from one another.

Andy Rooney would be fine with me. I'll order the book when I'm at work tomorrow. Should make for some interesting discussion. We have an Andy-like columnist locally, Dick Feagler, who people also either love or hate, kind of like Mike Royko from Chicago (loved him).

I LOVE Andy Rooney, even if I don't always agree with him... and he's a UAlbany alumnus, so I know I can get the book in our bookstore! I'm in!

BTW... the reason I had dedicated the last BBC thread to Todd is because I wanted to read and discuss Illusions... and in that respect, it worked wonderfully well....

*Yeah we got a guy that's been doing a column in our 'home town' newspaper for decades. Odd, as I often read it I can't recall the name??? But like others can identify. You read the damn thing wether you like it or not. Usually if not left with the 'what a dumb-ass' feeling, you often times have learned something like it or not. Sometimes surprizingly funny. Sometimes surprizing witty! The guy couldn't be more of an odd-ball in real life. (trust me on this one) But it can be fun seeing how 'he' see's the world..

This sounds interesting, and I hope there is a turn out! We did have allot of fun in the old club. Just nature can take it's course + folks move on. I'd love to see this work out!

Thanks Larry. Not much time for Archives these days. Just nice knowing it's there tho! You monitors have access to all that stuff....I remember some hippy clashes that I'd sooner forget. Altho they would be fun to read in Archives. As embarrassing as some of them were. Removing Controverial Topics was probly good for the site overall???? It did get like Jerry Sringer twords the end if I remember correctly????

So we are calling it the Hee Bee Gee Bee Book Club? Sounds good. Being difficult, I don't think we should call it the Guthrie Center Anything, unless the Guthrie Center has something to do with it, but that's just me, and I always forget to come to the meetings even when I remember to read the book, so no one should much care what I think, including me. I'm trying to think of a way to use the word LITERATI because it sounds so darn smart, plus it has that *Litter* Arlo connection. Litter-ati. Maybe we could do some thing with that? Blunderite Litterati Association, bla bla?

Now what Still batty wrote I like, she seems to be speaking directly to the point in a most round about way, her thoughts on the correct naming and proper attendance is also, right on.

Hi! I found the book in my library. Actually, the original was written in 1995, and a new edition was published in 2000 with a foreword by Tom Brokaw. So, the book should be in libraries--our town bookstore was out, but that was a LITTLE bookstore, maybe the big chains would have it. It's 313 pages. Do we want to alll have the same edition--we had both, and it looked like all they did was add the foreword, I don't think they changed the text of the book itself. I can't wait to start.

I didn't say we were officially calling it anything as of yet? And other's should have input...
