Did anyone else see the PBS American Masters documentary on Joni Mitchell? If not, watch for it to repeat this week or next in your area. It was a wonderful show.

I discovered Joni only last year, but her music has had an impact on me that only a few musicians have had. Albums like Blue, Court, Hissing of Summer Lawns, and Hejira just blow my mind. Does anyone have any Joni stories, any tales of seeing her live back in the day that you can share with us young-uns?

One thing she said gave me hope, given the dark times we're living in. She said she has beaten cynicism, and that she hasn't let the things that piss her off derail the love of life she lives for. I wish I could say that. I hope I can someday, but right now, I can't see the light through the fog. I love my life of course, but I haven't figured out how to keep the Dark Side's destruction from jading me, to the point where all I can do is shake my head daily.

Someone cheer me up with a cool Joni story. Did she ever perform with another certain folkslinger often discussed here???

I caight the tail end of it when flipping dials on the tv. I would've liked to have seen all of it to see if they showed her playing mountain dulcimer on there. Love dulcimers.

Tigger Outlaw (Geoffs wife now ex-wife I think) does the song SONGS TO AGING CHILDREN in ALICES as Shelley's funeral. The song was written by Joni Mitchell. Nice song. Arlos not in that scene cuz Woody died & he had to go back to NYC for that...
