I read an article in the paper today that Lily Tomlin received the Mark Twain award for her comedy work, etc., etc. I don't debate that, it's much deserved and she's a funny lady. But a little paragraph way down at the end of the article said she had signed a petition denouncing Bush's plan for a pre-emptive strike against Iraq. And she still won the award. The feeling is that the Dixie Chicks will forfeit the "Best Vocal group" award this evening, and Danny Glover was dropped as the MCI spokesman because of his anti-war stance.

Good for whoever it is who grants the Mark Twain award for not caving into political correctness.

MCI does, of course, have the right to use whomever they please as a spokesperson. I'm sure they feel that due to his anti-war stance, he would no longer bring in the big bucks. Apparently they're buying into the 77% approval-ratings hype.

I don't use MCI, but I will certainly let them know MY view the next time one of their operators call. Maybe if enough people cancel their MCI accounts or refuse to sign up and say WHY, the corporate powers that be will have a change of heart (said tongue-in-cheek).
