15 days today. No booze, not pot, not caffeine (allright just one cup verses 12) 2 /wks seems like a long time. & I'm not doing this alone. Don't get me wrong, no one's holding my hand smiling. But somewhere, somehow, NO-MATTER what we've learned it's easy to feel your into something all alone. Don't mean to repeat myself, but no-one is here physically helping me thru this......The only one I can laugh at (with) is Todd tellin me I'm a dumb fuck, forge forward. Screw you too Todd G. I'll get thru this "Dead or Alive" once & for all.....Please concur I'm not mad just Rb

Taking the advice of (either Jack or Cisco)
I'm shooting at the ground in case they're crawling.

I'm having a dejeu-vue man (t. rundgren)

Hey RB... it's for sure you are not alone.
We all have our demons to exorcise. For what it's worth (2 cents worth, maybe) I'm with you.

Congrats on making it 15 days... one day at a time.

I tried (again) to quit smoking. Can't stand not being able to breathe at night. But I "fell off the wagon" again.

I know it's one day at a time, but I can't seem to make it past 2-1/2 days... and I HAVE TO have my morning smoke. If I can just get past 3 days with NO cigarettes, I'd be fine.

Almost 8 years ago, I ran out of a prescription migraine medication called Fiorinal. Went to a new doc who I figured I could "snow" into giving me a new prescription. (I'd been addicted for over 10 years at that point).

Well, he not only saw right thru me, but he very patiently explained how "rebound" migraine works, what I can do to get through the rebound, how to quit totally. He prescribed Prozac to break the cycle by not only preventing the rebound but by being able to recognize the imminent warning sign of migraine (the aura) and how to treat it before it became pain.

I took the Prozac for 6 months, and have been totally free of the Fiorinals for almost 8 years! I still get the aura periodically and it panics me (got one today). I have near-total blindness in one eye when that happens. But I've learned to cope, sort of, and to manage the aura so I don't get the full-blown migraine. And without the Fiorinal causing even more headaches, I've not even missed them.

Good luck to you quitting so many things at once.

20 days tommorro. & it aint easy. but such is life.

Thanks everyone for the continued support. Jesus knows I need it!

BuffaloGal, That's a brave thing you did. I once had a friend that told me he'd rather give up his smack habit, than to quit barbiturates cold turkey. Funny how Pharmeuceutical Co.'s sneak them into Tylenol or Aspirin and Drs. hand them out like candy. For a wierd reason that seems to be a drug of choice for lots of people. 8 yrs. is a pretty good track record.

SAD THING, the motivation that made me quit, was a diagnoisis of severe Tonsilitus, that at this point in time is inoperable. Hopefully in November my insurance will kick in, and I can get these sucker's yanked out. The bad part about it, is all the other effects of having bad tonsils (things growing where they shouldn't) severe fatigue, constant sore throat. And I'm used to medicating a pimple. So this is very new and differant. Wish me continued success as it can only be done, inch by inch, mile, after mile.

Tx again!/Rb

Good work, young man!

It comes from inside. Sounds like you're ready. Go with it! Don't fight yourself.

Periodically reward yourself with some other thing that's pleasant. You deserve it!

Good luck with giving up everything, I know what its like I gave up smoking pot and cigs a long while ago, it wasn't all that easy but I did it and I do feel a lot better for it. Though even now when things get really heavy I wish I could just slink away into a hash induced coma, but these urges get very easy to ignore, trust me.

As for your throat, with your condition being really bad they might not do you much good, but see if you can get hold of some Liquorish sticks, not the black sweets kind but the real twig ones. They have natural anticeptic in them which makes them perfect for soar throats. Pluss if you keep chewing on those they might help with the cigarret cravings, and they only cost a few pence each. Good Luck

Rob, if I'm counting right, this is day 22--'they' say the 21st day is a huge milestone, marking the end of the hardest part--good on you! Continuing to send Blundervibes.
