Wow! Which three? I've seen him three times as well -- in Toronto with the Rolling Thunder Revue (1975), in Pittsburgh in 1980 and in Charleston, S.C. in 2002.

I went to see him in Richmond once in the 90's & once at Kings Dominion in the 90's (both early 90's I think)& saw another show of his but I forget where it was. I think it might've been Richmond too. At one of the gigs we saw folks there wearing Arlo shirts...

So, if we go see Dylan, we wear an Arlo shirt

If we go see Arlo, we wear a SarahLee shirt

Bob Dylan's birthday indirectly brought me to the internet & this site. I saw Arlo on Dylan's 60th birthday & came here to post the set list (might still be here somewhere).

For the encore, Arlo & Xavier were joined by opening act Jorma Kaukonen for a Bob Dylan birthday tribute, singing "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere," "San Francisco Bay Blues," & "Mr. Tambourine Man." After "SF Bay Blues," Arlo got a confused look & asked Jorma, "When did Bob write that???"

Hey, Kcycledelic (that's probably spelled wrong---gimme time, I'll get it right), I also saw Dylan in 1980 in Pittsburgh. I recall it was in the summer, not Jan., at the old Stanley Theatre. I was so excited. He hadn't been here since '66 & I'd never seen him.

It was his gospel period. I recall he did 3 nights at the Stanley. My friend & I got tickets for the 3rd night. I knew the gospel songs were booed elsewhere & I figured by night #3 that woulda stopped. I remember the 1st 2 nights, my friend & I left our usual hang-out, the Electric Banana, & headed out to the Stanley just as the concerts were letting out so we could talk to the people as they were exiting, then heading back to the EB.

(Folks who got here within the last 2 years will find that my discourse is riddled with vivid recollections of events that nobody cares about.)

Were you a member of Dylan's message boards? I was. I was Diamond Joe. When Sony abruptly pulled the plug, somebody started a board for the Dylan people to gather. That didn't last long. Anyways...the rumor was that somebody posted an anti-Geo. Bush comment, another member reported the post to his local Homeland Security, & that was the end of that....

Craziest mesaage boards I ever saw. As many as 100 people there at once, new topics literally every minute, all day long. You'd start a thread, & an hour later it was buried.

Me and Alan let lucky when we when to see Mr Dylan last November. We had seats center stage about 8 row back. He never played Guitar, just stayed behind his piano. I said on the night he looked as if he was dying of a cold, then we heard he'd canceld the previous nights show due to ill health.

Normaly Security wont let you cock you arse to fart when your down the front, but this time they let the first 10 rows go right up to the barrier if you wanted too, only I couldn't because I was 6 months Pregnat with Arlo.

It's true what you said about the Boards though over on his site, P. Pittsburgh joe, I whent over a few times to read them, but you just couldn't make head nor tale of what was going on so I never joind.

I'm quoting myself to correct something. Kcycledelic never said that the 1980 concert was in Jan., he didn't specify a month. Don't know why I read your post & saw Jan. there.

Hey, Beverly, I've seen Dylan 8 times & the last was Nov., 2002 when he played a lot of piano. I think that's the tour when he started doing that. He was doing Warren Zevon songs & "Brown Sugar" along with his own stuff.

i've seen bob dylan one time in concert. i just remember having a lot of fun cuz the three of us (we who went together) were just acting crazy and making the most of everything (long story) (just don't anyone get any funny ideas, cuz we weren't THAT crazy)
so anyway, two of us wound up right by the stage (by accident) <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15> it wasn't my fault!!! so, but anyway there were tons of people there and it was really hot, and a really nice treat was when a few of the stage crew members got hoses and gently (not mean like with a fire hose) but gently aimed water out into the crowd so everyone could get wet and cool off, but of course it wasn't an entirely selfless act, cuz it turned the whole place into a wet t-shirt party.

No problem ... but the old Stanley Theater? Does that mean it's not there any more? What happened? And yes, I was a member of the boards at bobdylan.com ... it was fun for a while, but it seemed as if 10 or so people monopolized every thread.

The Stanley was remodeled & is now the Benedum Center & is used strictly for plays. Concerts haven't been there in about 20 years. I saw some good ones there, besides Dylan, also the Clash & Elvis Costello (on back-to-back nights), Roy Buchanan, Tom Petty, Talking Heads, probably more I can't think of right now.

I know what you mean about the Dylan boards. There was that one woman there with about 40,000 posts. She spent so much time there that she wouldn't get a job or really do anything else & let her life go to hell just coz she couldn't ever leave the message boards, finally seeing a shrink & asking the webmaster to block her from posting.
