OK, so what happened, and exactly when did The Left (and that includes Democrats, Liberals, Socialists and Communists) become synonymous with Facism? Something is seriously wrong with the picture, and I'm not backing down until it gets fixed... For cryin' out loud.

(edited for spelling -- or misspelling, rather)

I first noticed in the Reagan era, when wealth became synonymous with morality.

(Edited for spelling as well.)

I'm thinking we maybe went through the looking glass with Alice. Everything is backwards.

Some students at a Texas University are claiming they are Republicans because they are Liberals, and these days it's the only Party where one can find -- or be -- true Liberals. The worst of it is, I think they're absolutely right (as against Right).

That Wealth-Is-Morality concept is terribly Calvinistic, don't you think? God (or Karma or whatever Power That Is) rewards us with wealth, and punishes us with poverty. The Chosen/Good/Right are rich, The Damned/Evil/Wrong are poor; ergo anything the rich (or anything "We") do is good and defensible, whereas anything the poor (or anything "They") do is bad -- even unconscionable. (Not, of course, that Karma as it's understood in the East resembles the Western version in the slightest, but that's another kettle.)

I passed through Saratoga Springs last winter, and may actually have found a place that's worse than Woodstock. The sheer hypocrisy of it is staggering. If things keep up the way they're going, there isn't going to be any freedom at all left in this country before long, and it's not because of the so-called 'Right', the Conservatives, or the Republicans. Facism, nepotism, old style European arsitocracy (based on wealth and caste), a rigid class system, exploitation and enslavement of the poor, maniulation of the system towards one's own ends without regard to ethics, the philosophy of Might Makes Right -- these are all coming from the Left these days, far more than from the Right.

It scares and saddens me to see this country be sold out and sold down the line, and I'm decidedly fed up with revisionism being passed off as the "real" history of this country and its people.

I've been registered as a Democrat since I was old enough to vote, but can't in good conscience want to be associated anymore, or in any way, with what that party has become, or with what it has come to stand for.

Then of course, there are the Secularists, who are doing exactly what the separation of church and state was designed to keep anyone from doing...

Sorry to be so long winded. It's heart breaking, though. And apologies for any misspelillings or other mistakes. I'm not reviewing this one before posting...
