I haven't read the report yet, but will read at least the executive summary later today, and the entire report this week. (if you haven't found it yet, you can access a PDF file at the USGPO website: 9/11 Commission Report )

From what I've been hearing, the Commission seems to have been fair, placing responsibility for the security failures at all levels of government, and without regard for partisanship. I would say they did exactly what such a commission is supposed to do.

Now, the problem is to get our legislators to do what THEY are supposed to do... kinda difficult, since they've gone home now for the summer... so the President (hah!) SHOULD request a special session of Congress to address the security issues and recommendations of the Commission.

More thoughts once I've read the specifics.... What do you think?

I also have not read it yet, I need a real copy to do so. But I heard Juliette Kayyem, Senior Fellow, Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University, (previously the Executive Director of the Domestic Preparedness Project at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government) discuss it last night.

She had read a little more than half of it, at that point, and the biggest thing I remember is this - that she felt that it is much more strong against the current administration than is being publicized - and that basically, it says, "Fire Condi."

Star... if you have acrobat installed on your computer, a printer, and lots of paper and ink, you can print out either the 35 page executive summary or the 500+ page full report from the link I posted... I'm printing the executive summary, and will think about it before printing the full report... it's a LOT of paper... I don't want to encourage the logging industry by killing more trees.
