Okay, yesterday I was sad. Today I'm mad. Georgie may think he has a mandate, but I think he will find he doesn't. It's time for Plan B. This is an excerpt from the moveon.org e-mail that many of you may have received, but in case you didn't:

<FONT COLOR="blue">...the fact that so many of us were involved offers true hope for the future of democracy. In the campaign to defeat George Bush, you have proven that real Americans can have a voice in American politics. In the months and years to come, that revelation will change everything.

Although George Bush won by 3% nationally, we must remember that 55.4 million Americans stood with you and with John Kerry. You are certainly not alone. And a healthy environment, a strong and fair economy, good schools, domestic safety and the end of the war in Iraq are goals we all share -- red states and blue states alike.

Our journey toward a progressive America has always been bigger than George Bush. The current leg is just beginning -- we're still learning how to build a citizen-based politics together. But it's a journey our nation has been on for a long time. As Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "The arc of history is long, but it bends toward justice."

Today, we'll take a breath. Tomorrow, we'll keep moving toward the America we know is possible.</FONTc>

<FONT COLOR="black">And this, from a Texas-based group, drivedemocracy.org, you might not have seen:</FONTc>

<FONT COLOR="blue">Thanks to your courage and commitment, we have begun a movement in Texas and
America that believes we can still achieve our promise as the most just and
free nation in history. November 2 taught us that we were not as far along the
path as we hoped. But we are still on the path, and we commit to you that we're
not going to waste a minute worrying about what might have been.

Instead, we are going to build upon the gains we have made. Fifty-five million
Americans share our moral vision for the future, a future in which our soldiers
are not asked to die for a lie, a future in which our Social Security
investments are not squandered on a trillion-dollar debt and a privatization
scheme that is little more than a welfare program for corporate investment
firms.

In our future, our children will not be left to deteriorating public schools
while the wealthy use our tax dollars to educate their own in exclusive private
schools.

In our future the rich will be asked to bear their share of the tax burden that
now falls disproportionately upon working families. The doors to the courthouse
will not be chained and locked under some spurious and poorly disguised
capitulation to the whims of Big Insurance.

Our moral vision is based upon the simple proposition that Freedom is a synonym
for Responsibility. We cannot be free if we abandon our responsibilities to one
another. That is the message of the world's great spiritual traditions and
secular philosophies. So to those who say we lost the national election on
November 2 on the question of "moral values," we say you have not been
listening to us.

So we are going to speak louder.

The fight for the future won't be easy, but it will be just. We're glad you're
on our side.

Thanks again, and keep the faith.</FONTc>

<FONT COLOR="black"><I>Taking to the streets at night,
Standing up for what was right;
Seems like it's all coming 'round again.</I>

It IS coming round again and I intend to be a part of it. Good call, folkslinger!</FONTc>

Thanks Chel,I don't know how I would have got through this week without all of you.
It's not easy being a citizen by blood of two countries which are now run by scary people, especially when one of em is so far away and I don't really have many Americans apart from my Dad, Sis and Bro to talk to at times like these.

If your feeling desperate you might want to go to Mike Moore's site for "17 reasons not to slit your wrists".
