I found it interesting last night of Dan Rather news. Ya know how they say a little ditty, then go to a commercial, saying, more about it when we return. Well this byte was about a disease, that in 1993 they discovered a test for. BUT, (as emotionally put by Dan Rather) NOT everyone wants to take that test. (as there is NO known cure)

I just knew they were talking about Huntingtons' Disease (HD) & I was right. The story is about a Dad & his son, who share the love of hockey. The Dad being a long time Hockey Coach, untill HD made it immpossible for him to finish his career. He's still well enough to go to his son's games, as a spectator. His son is on his way to being a professional Hockey Player. For his own personal reasons, he doens't want to be tested.

* I liked his reasoning tho. ntm: it made me think of the HD walk come spring. I met some parents, and thier child has HD. Out of all the facility's in NY state, they found one to be the best....(15 minutes down the road from me) The wierd thing bout it is, my brother James built that place as a home, and Contruction busn. After living there 7 or 8 yrs. (and a divorce) he sold it, and they turned it into a place for people with special needs.

What a small world it can be sometimes. Never forget a face, but I always wanted to drop in that center and visit that guy. Just to tell him, aye I met your parents in Ma. and they're such neat people. Your lucky to have them!!! If I ever meet those folks again, and thier son is still there, thats a must. The world is just too small not to recognize the people you meet. If only for just one day.

Peace/Rb

P.S. It's my opinion, that if in 1993 scientist discoverd a test, to see if a person's inherited the gene (ntm: the gene has now been isolated) that someday, & soon I hope, they WILL disscover a cure. Sure would be sweet to see it in my lifetime. No more HD walks. We can all laze around & just listen to music, and stuff our faces.

MEANWHILE: KEEP ON WALKIN <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15>
