Uh, oh! I'm probably most definitely on it. First I sign a petition back in 1970 to put the Communist Party on the ballot in Connecticut, hang out with "Greenies", former Earth First people, known commie pinkos, unknown commie pinkos, somewhat familiar-looking commie pinkos, Pagans and "cult" groups and now I find out that the group that holds the peace vigils I've been going to is listed on the Al-Jezeerah website! Oh, my!

http://www.aljazeerah.info/Announcements/2003/DE MONSTRATIONS%20FOR%20PEACE,%20Upcoming%20actions%20with%20specific%20dates.htm

(under "Ongoing Actions" & "Connecticut")

The Group W Bench has always been on "the list" anyway. But that (the Al Jazeera page) is creepy.

I agree. Whenever political extremists and politicians use other groups or individuals to further their agendas, whose cause or "raison d'etre" is totally opposite from them, it is, indeed, creepy. Not to mention dishonest, dishonorable and deplorable (how's that for alliteration?). Sort of like Bush & his cronies using religion and "patriotism" to further their agendas of war, hate, propaganda & "fake news", and corporate dominance and control over individual lives and freedoms.

What was it Walt Kelly said so long ago in the comic strip "Pogo"? "We have met the enemy and he is us!"

I agree with everything you have both said but there's no way I'm goin' to that site!
I have enough 'choppers flyin' low over my house, funny clicks on the phone and mysterious computer happenings!!!!!!!!! <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/wink.gif" width=15 height=15>

Of course the Blundercopter is welcome any time!!!!

Well, Wheezie, if anybody's keepin' an eye on me then they're also findin' a sure cure for insomnia! I'm more boring than watchin' paint dry! Besides, it's mud season here right now (the part of Spring when the ground thaws just enough to turn into the consistency of chocolate pudding), so if'n they're surveillancin' my house they're bored and muddy. Not to mention that a bear's been comin' around lately. Well, that would relieve the boredom, I reckon!

But, in all honesty, I think that the page on the Al-Jezeerah site is so transparent that it's almost laughable. The real scarey thing is that at least 51% of US voters actually believe what Bush says....and agree with him!

One other thing... do you REALLY think that if you post on this site that you're on "The List"? I mean, that whole deal with Arlo was over thirty years ago and he's made light of it so much over the years that they probably dropped it long ago. I mean, come on! The FBI ain't that dumb........um, are they? Ya think?

Anything is possible.

It's not over 'til you know who sings!!

Just ask adg about the Plane Sniffin' Guy!;-)

Just ask Shel!!!

(Hell, Rod McKuen is probably still on The List for singing "Soldiers Who Want To Be Heros" at his concerts in thr late 60's when it was banned, and he was on the Nixon Suspect List!!)

I wanna be on the list! Can I be on the list. I wanna be used to further the political cause of the most absurd political organisation on the planet. (all taken out of context of course)

Congratulations on your achievement.

Hey wait, I bet Al Jezeera heard about your group of Fanatical Anti-War malcontents by monitoring some US Government "Intelligence" List that was put together by some Bush-Zombie in a darkened basement in Washington DC that spends all their time monitoring the Group W Bench eagerly awaiting every post.

Wow, A Cosmic Circle, I am now a true believer!

Maybe a question for the Blunderites.

Please tell, what is the most absurd political organization on the planet?

Any nominees?

Just to clarify something, P.S. Are you suggesting that perhaps one shouldn't get involved with peace activist groups because something as dumb as the Arabic version of Fox News might use them to further their political cause? Sorry if I got anyone's stones rattled, but I posted it because I think that the whole thing is pretty silly and, well, funny! And the whole idea of "The List", to me, is pretty humourous, as well.

Just the fact that Al-Jezeerah has a page to suggest that they're promoting peace made me laugh 'til I farted! And looking at "The List" from a logistics point of view, they'd have to hire a heck of a lot of people to keep watch on a bunch of aging hippies, along with all of the other people they claim to be watchin'.

And just what the heck is "The List"? And who's got it? And why are the people who are on it on it? Can you get taken off the list? Does whoever has "The List" compare their list with other lists? Do they trade names? And what happens if you stop doin' whatever it was that got you on "The List" in the first place? Are you put on another list of inactive people from the first list ("The List")? And what information about you is on "The List" if you're on "The List"? Your favorite color or food? The type of car you drive? Then what happens when you get another car? Do they have to change your profile on "The List"? Sounds like a lot of trouble to go through to me!

I've been on the list since at least 1970; maybe 1969; and proud to be there, for the various nefarious activities I pursued at that time, like trying to end war and stuff. The list is just the list. You know; somewhere in Washington, enshrined in ...

If they have picked up that we're here now, they do have way too much time on their hands and need to adopt babies or something.

The Al-Jazeera page is pretty lame and pretty funny at the same time.

Oh no, don't get me wrong! I am very proud of you for doing what you are doing! Although I haven't been part of anything so organized I feel the same as you! THe fact that people feel there needs to be any list of any sort at any time (and the fact that there are people out there that validate that feeling by blowing other people up for no reason whatsoever) pisses me off to no end. THats why I say to this very day I would like to see an ad run on every station that demonstrates the stupidity of some Americans, Arabs, Jews, blues, reds yellows blah ba di blah etc etc and wow with guns and swords ablazing and uniforms tattered and torn and things blowin up and shooting shooting each other with pictures of the worlds so called leaders mixed in and with Arlo's song Children of Abraham, Whats your story
Killing each other for a piece of land (among other things) playing in the background. I would like to see it run once an hour on every station on the planet and until peace breaks out everywhere! I would like to see the church removed from the state on issues such as marriage (its none of the states damn business if i want to marry a transvestite with purple hair and genital piercings or a southern Baptist Girl who won't let me touch her stuff cause God says its bad to do that, its a contract for crying out loud; so take your Bible thumpin' Shinola outta government) and while I am ranting and carrying on, THe reason that those Bible thumpers shouldn't have equal billing for their intelligent design crap is because its not science and they only want it to reinforce their insane notion that humanity is some how superior in nature (only second to God) and therefore justified in trashing and destroying the Planet and rid the world of the rest of the lower forms of Life that subsist only for mans pleasure (yes mans pleasure, because in their world woman is next in line to man and here only to serve his purposes, ladies don't yell at me it is their reality and it is reinforced by their women).

And another thing, in those religious types reality they don't give a flying f@#k if they destroy the world because Gods going to call them all home soon and leave the screwed up earth to the Godless Secular Humanists Free thinking bastards like me!

I think I have gone on enough here! I am not really sorry if I have offended because it was difficult but I have gotten over my Hippie notion that people are entittled to their Religious Ideas people should be able to practice their Cosmic Reality as they feel is real for them. I have to be more militant these days because they attack viciously all the time and I quoye from that bastion of sanity (hardy har har) Time Magazine of March 21 2005

"baptists should no longer fear conservative catholics (or Osama Bin Laden, because he is a religious fruitcake) because Secularism and Radical Pluralism (those represent me folks) and the demotion of scripture (I disagree with literalism, thats for sure) are our common enemies" I used to think (in my younger Hippie days) That Ecumenicalism was good, got folks talkin' and stuff and ironed out differences. I have changed my opinion! it just strengthens a truly negative force in the galaxy; Man's superstitions and Religious intolerance!!!!

Someday, if I am ever in CT at a time that coincides with one of your peace rallies I would be proud if you would let me stand next to you! But I gotta warn ya I'm a bit of a Looney (see above)! And, I have been on the list for quite awhile as I had my genuine official civil disobediance training (limbs tight against the torso and don't respond to taunts or beating because it will edge them on) when I was fingerprinted for trespassing at the site of a Nuclear Power Plant (that was never built) right there in beautiful Inola Oklahoma (I wish we could get rid of coal fired plants as well, I still don't understand why windmills aren't nest to everybodies satelite dish, but hey what do I know, its hard to charge for wind). I was also arrested once for demonstarting against Reagans excursions into Nicaragua and El Savador (with genuine Maryknoll Priests, some Christians I was proud to know) but they didn't fingerprint me that time they just put me in a cage with a bunch of other malcontents like myself so we could work on the Hokey pokey together and sing protest songs in harmony (sort of anyway). Without a finger print, I don't know if it counts. THey did call me bad names though!

Well now you know Zap!!! As P.S. said, we just post stuff here to keep some of those basement zombies busy. You know, throw 'em off the scent so to speak. I can reveal this to you now as you have passed a secret test!!
Also, even tho you are able to read this post as Engish it is really written in a Blundercode that you have only been now able to decipher because you have now been endoctorated as an official Blunderite!!
This ability came to you through a special potion that was added, without your knowledge, to your latest batch of Mead.
Just so you know it's really me I will just say that "that is my 32 cents worth"! Whenever or wherever you are in the world and you hear "32 cents" incorperated into a sentence you will know you are being spoken to,"in code", by a genuine Blunderite!
For conformation just ask Shel, or Larry The Swiss Cheese Reader (he sees all in the Cheese).

Sorry about the misinterp, P.S. That's why I asked for clarification. One of the problems with the internet is that it's sometimes difficult to determine intent via the written word. Satire can be mistaken for sarcasm, etc., etc. Just wanted to make sure. And it's I who should be proud of you! Goin' to the pokey twice for standin' up for your beliefs. I just stand on a corner for an hour a couple of times a month wavin' a peace flag with a very small bunch of folks mostly older than my 53 years. Passerbys probably think that we suffer from senile dementia or something! And I'd be proud to have you stand next to me, looney or no. I've been accused of the same myself. Besides, it's okay! My better half just started working at a psychiatrist's office this week!

And, Wheezie, I'm glad I passed the Blunderite test....even though I don't remember takin' it. Hmmm! Guess it WAS a secret test (I thought the mead tasted a wee bit strange! It had a Blundering aftertaste)!I humbly accept my Blunderiteness. I can now say with conviction, "My Blunder... rite or rong!" Spellin' it is another issue, though.

A few things aren't going all screwy on the planet. Yesterday, the gentleman from Litchfield county, CT who was arrested for assisting a prostate cancer victim's suicide was give accelerated probation with no jail time and his record to be wiped clean after one year.

And Connecticut's state senate passed a bill to allow same sex civil unions. It now has to go through the state house and then be okayed by the Gov. If passed, Connecticut will be the first state in the Union to do so without a case having gone through the courts first. And they call Connecticut "the land of steady habits"! HA!!!
