Here's a proposal: Make it a law of the land that whenever a president and/or members of Congress decide or vote to go to war (or take "military action") that either they, their children, or (if they have no children) their nearest, dearest relatives must serve in the thick of battle for as long as the war shall last. If their cause is so just and honorable that they can send the nation's daughters and sons to war, then they should be willing to send their own as well! Think that the smirking ass, G. "Dubya" would send his daughters? No? Why not? He'd send yours!

There sure would be a lot fewer wars if the bastards had to do that!

Here's another idea. In the Greek play, Lysistrata, the women decided to go on a sex strike until the men called off the war.

That might work today, except that some of our high-ranking elected officials go to bed at 9:00, and haven't had sex in God knows
how long. The only screwing they do is with the world.

Now if Bill Clinton was still in office, we might have something to work with!

I suspected I was just part of a racket at the time. Now I am sure of it. Like all the members of the military profession, I never had a thought of my own until I left the service. My mental faculties remained in suspended animation while I obeyed the orders of higher-ups. This is typical with everyone in the military service.

I helped make Mexico, especially Tampico, safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. Great post, Myland. How true. The privileged few & big business still profit with the blood, lives and suffering of the common folk. And, speaking of "folk", you're right. There were some good folk singers back then. No offense to present company, but where the heck are they now (meaning the protestin' side of folk singers)? Sure, there's some being played on college stations, but damn! Where's the like of all of the noise everybody was making back in the '60's? Well, at least Steve Earl had the balls to come out with an almost completely protesty-like album ("The Revolution Starts Now").

And, Mikey, I don't think that the Lysistrata deal would work with Republicans. It would only work if they enjoyed sex to begin with!
