Can't wait to see George Clooney's movie about when Murrow took on McCarthy. I'm reading the book "Murrow His Life and Times"
by Ann Sperber (pub. 1986) My folks remember it well so I'm askin' them all about it too.
I was born in July '54, a few months after it happened. That's one of my explinations to people for my subversive ways.

Apparently a few people who reviewed the movie complained that the actor George chose to play Mc Carthy was too animated. Ha!! They were actually real film clips of McCarthy!!!!!!

Hey, if, like me, you are lucky enough to still have your folks, make sure you wring every last story that you can before they leave this earth. It's a tradition in our family to keep finding out all the stories.
By chance yesterday I found a book, on my Dad's Computer desk, about the Logging industry in and around Silverton, Ore., (where he was born)
IN the back it had a list of all the people who had worked there.Dad had written in red next to names of his Dad and other friends and relatives. In the G's was Clark Billie Gable. In red was written "went on to become a movie star". I quizzed my Dad, who is 86, and he said, like it was nothin' special,"Yeah, I was a kid and my friend's granma had a boarding house in Silverton, and I'd go play some ball in her yard with my friend. Mr. Gable, who stayed there for a while while workin' a the Sawmill, used to come out and throw the ball around with us".

I'm gonna grill him about when Woody was in The Pacific NorthWest, in the 30's, next time I see him!!
