If you haven't heard this already, television evangelist Pat Robertson committed a rather large international "faux pas" yesterday on his "700 Club" program when he suggested that US covert operative should "take out" (and not in the dating sense!) Venezuelan Prez Chavez! Looks like the religious right has gotten soooo comfortable with "Dubya" being their champion that some of 'em think that they've got carte blanche to do or say pretty much what they want. This guy's a Christian leader and he's condoning and suggesting assassinations? Looks like the Christian right has it's own little nest of terrorists and extremists! Stupid ones, but aren't they all, whatever side they're on? Check out the story at:

"I said our special forces should 'take him out.' 'Take him out' could be a number of things including kidnapping.

He continued: "We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability. We don't need another $200 billion war to get rid of one, you know, strong-arm dictator. It's a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with."

No offense, Cheryl, but you also like "Dubya" Bush who has, in five short years, taken what was a national budget surplus to the biggest debt ever, raised standards for all sorts of pollution (water, air, etc., supported and signed into law legislation that benefits corporate America over its individual citizens' rights, lied, lied & lied to the American public and the world, and started a war based on lies that has not only increased terrorism in the world but is, as I type this, killing an ever growing number of our brave troops as well as innocent Iraqis caught in the middle (and for what reason? Please, if you know, tell me!). Gimme a break! The jerk cracks jokes about not finding any "weapons of mass destruction" while people are dying because of him! And to top things off, the rat bastard doesn't have time to meet with Cindy Sheehan, but can take the time to meet a mother who supports the war who's husband & son are going to Iraq. Guess you have to support his position to get an audience with his majesty King George II.

Okay, I got sidetracked. Back to Pat Robertson. What does he have to be upset about? Gas prices for his limo (bought with money people send him!) too high? Another Harry Potter book that's turning all of our fine upstanding Christian kids into minions of the dark lord (actually, the Potter books have gotten kids away from TV & video games and back to reading! And all this time we've been told that "Reading is Fundamental! Sorry, Cheryl. The guy has disrespected religions and spiritaul paths (including my own) that are different from his. He has bilked millions out of their money through his 700 Club. And I don't care how upset he supposedly was. Anyone professing to be a minister and a follower of the "Prince of PEACE" (you know, Jesus) shouldn't even come close to even suggesting that someone should be assassinated and he came right out and said it. And then, even with the video & audio of him saying it, denied that he did! This guy even ran for president! Imagine that if he had been elected (astronomically unlikely as it was) president with whacked-out thoughts and diatribes as what we've just heard! Imagine, just for a second, that he'd have his finger on "The Button"! There's a good chance that the world, or at least a part of it, would have been reduced to cinders! My apology for ranting, Cheryl, but this guy and our president are both very dangerous men. And not in a good sense! It seems that both have exhibited, by word and/or by deed, a lack of respect for human lives, contrary to their "sanctity of life" rhetorical crap!

I respectfully agree. He's a good guy. IF and ONLY IF good guy is defined synonymously with being socialized to be obstinately opposed to anything that doesn't jibe with ones own cultural beliefs. Ignorance is bliss, but not this time. Good thing he didn't insult his own. He perhaps would have been taken to the back room or back alley and beat with the strap or miners belt.
