It seems that the ol' Students for a Democratic Society is back. Well, maybe not the same ol' SDS, but it's a start.

Wow! I wonder if the'll have the old lists (probably not; but I'm sure they're 'inscribed in Washington."--I'm there.) Oh, joy! It's enough to make me enroll for a basketweaving class just to get on the list again. Except now it probably costs a 'Brazillion' dollars to sign up for a 3-hr. class.

I believe that it is an estimated number equivalent to the number of brassieres burned by radical feminists in the nineteen sixties. Although it is generally thought that the burned undergarments numbered in the hundreds of thousands, independent research into the actual number of brassieres burned has only been able to verify eleven, nine of which were found to be copy-cat burnings.

In a related story, it seems the fervor against bra burning has spurred knee-jerk reactions by many US congressional representatives, both conservative and so-called liberal alike! Although an effort to "cover up" the story in the media was made, it has come to light that in July, 2005, the US House of Representatives had approved a constitutional amendment to prohibit political bra burning. See the article at the following site:

http://www.faultline.org/place/pinolecreek/archives/002414.html

Also, since his departure from the office of US Attorney General, John Ashcroft has been attempting to start a grassroots campaign to put brassieres on all statues depicting the bare-breasted female form in government buildings and public places. Several of his supporters have taken up the slogans, "This is not the US of 'T & A'!" or "Support breasts, not radical feminists!"

It's from a joke:

Donald Rumsfeld is giving the president his daily briefing. He concludes by saying: "Yesterday, 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed."

"OH NO!" the President exclaims. "That's terrible!"

His staff sits stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watching as the President sits, head in hands.

Finally, the President looks up and asks, "How many is a brazillion?"

I could have sworn I posted on this topic last night. I changed my e-mail address on the forum, which meant I had change the password, which has led to confusion. The board can't make up its mind whether I belong here or not.

Anyway, I think it's great. Gives me hope for the future. Blogged about it. I hope they have the stamina to give it the time it's going to need. The time's may be a changin' but they're still different as well as the same, if you know what I mean. A lot of people are going to want a voice and want to be heard, but the energy around the whole thing is different than in the 60's.

Here, here, Pat (or is that "hear, hear" or "here, hear" or....never mind!)! I just hope that the momentum continues to gather. Not soon enough for those who have died in this monumental travesty.
