We oldies music listeners have lost another great oldies station. Here in VA at nite & sometimes during the day you can get WKBW the big station out of Buffalo, NY. I used to listen to them in the 60's & 70's & loved them. In the 80's when they switched from the music to a talk (I think it was) format I quite listening to them. A few yrs back they switched back to the oldies format & I loved it. The sad news is that this week they switched from the oldies format to a leftist talk format. You can imagine how angry I was this week when I tuned in to the hear the oldies only to hear leftist talk instead. This makes me so very angry. They have lost me as a listener & I'm sure lots of other listeners all over the place. No offense to any leftists or left wingers but if the leftists want a talk station can't they put on a new one instead of taking away our beloved oldies station? They already pulled this mess with WSAI in Cincinatti awhile back switching them from an oldies station to a liberal talk format. I've boycotted WSAI which is now back to being WCKY again & am boycotting WKBW. I sure hope folks will boycott WKBW. Maybe if folks do they will come to their senses & go back to the olides format. Man, no chance to hear them one last time. Last weekend was the last time I got to hear WKBW. <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/frown.gif" width=15 height=15> So sad. Cheryl, do you think maybe, just maybe, this situation might have happened before with right-wing talk shows taking over what was formerly a music format station somewhere in our fair land? I know you truly miss your oldies, but ler's be fair and leave the politics out of it.

Sorry Cheryl. But I'd really dig a left-of-center radio station if they had one in my part of Connecticut. I've had quite enough of hate mongering liars like Rush Limbaugh & "Ill" Bill "O'Riled-up"! It's about time the "other side" had some of the air waves. If you want oldies, you can always play some CDs or vinyl. I doubt you'll get a whole heck of a lot of support here. I do have to say though, that I am quite confounded that a person can listen to Arlo's music, profess to be his greatest fan and, at the same time, be diametrically opposite in their political thinking. Unless you know something that the rest of us don't and all of his left-wing, hippie, protestin', non-conformin', pacifistin', folk slingin', motorcyclin', VW micro bussin', "pause of Mister Clause"-in', "Comin' into Los Angeles"-in' has all been an act to infiltrate the hordes of "tree huggin', peace lovin', pot smokin', bare footin', folk singin' hippies like me!" Music radio in general is shrinking, it seems. Regular radio, that is. On the internet you can probably find almost anything. There's the satellite radio, too, of course, but no way would I pay to hear radio.

Talk radio seems to do better, be it left wing, right wing or chicken wing. I'm sorry that you're losing your oldies station. We've lost a few, too. But I'm glad that leftwing radio is making inroads. Rightwing radio has made quite a contribution to making this country not such a good place to live - unless you're very, very, very rich and not troubled by an active conscience. It's good that the other side is getting a chance to be heard.

I listened to KLIF in Dallas from 1962 until it went right-wing talk radio about 15 or more years ago. Less than a year ago we got our first left-wing talk radio station here. Now you have a choice--about 5 right-wing or 1 left-wing stations. The upside is that our CD collection has grown tremendously, and we're not dependent on radio for music.
Edited to say--Jay says that "5 right-wing stations" is conservative--no pun intended. There are a BUNCH more of those.

I have nothing against liberal talk stations. I just hate it when stations switch from the oldies to other formats. If WKBW had switched from the oldies to something else instead of the liberal talk I still would've been just as upset. I don't listen to talk radio that much. The only talk station I listen to is the Christian talk channel in Claremont. They have alot of preaching on there & play stuff like Richard Land's program & Stu Eppersons Truth Talk live. I like those 2 shows. But generally I don't listen to alot of talk stuff on the radio preferring my oldies & classic rock. I'd love to see the Wiz come on here & write more political stuff on here as it'd be interesting to see what he says.
