Janis made it history. Or at least the most popular recording of it.

Grateful Dead used to perform a very nice version of it for a while as a tribute after she passed away.

Bob Weir resurrected it after it lay dormant for many years, he has performed it a number of times with his band Ratdog, and even a handful of times with "The Dead" who "toured" the last coupla summers.
