Lee Hays, of the legendary Weavers lived his last years in Croton-on-Hudson, along the river, in New York.

He was just a guy, a little limited in movement by then but still told us 20 somethings a lot of good stories.

He was a great supporter of the Hudson River Sloop.

But, what struck me today as I was visiting a music site, and found Sarah Lee Guthrie's cd's, that Arlo may have named Sarah after "uncle" Lee. The rumor was that for awhile Arlo was "raised" by, or lived with Lee up there on Memory Lane.

Just curious.

Does anyone know? (Well, Arlo would!)

I don't know anything about Arlo being "raised" by Lee, but my understanding is that he and Jackie did name Sarah Lee Guthrie after Lee Hays, and Annie Hays Guthrie after him as well......'cept of course they named Annie after him first because she is older than Sarah Lee. Correct me if I'm wrong adg.
