I wasn't born until 1963 so Woodstock for me was way before my time although it took place after my birth. It wasn't until recently that I bought the Woodstock dvd that the light shown down on me. Now it all makes sense. If there is one piece of art out there that sums up the 1960s, the war and the fight for those who just wanted to make a difference then this is it. I've never watched a better piece of film than this. I was always under the belief that it was only about the music. But now I realize that the music was only the gathering point. The beacon. The lighthouse. Woodstock was about the people. And a love for all living things. It's sad for me to watch after realizing that the kind of love depicted in the film may never be repeated again in my lifetime. If a few hundred thousand can get along for a cause, why can not the world nearly 40 years later get along? Haven't we all matured as a nation or a world. I know that there was another Woodstock a few years back. The second Woodstock wasn't Woodstock. There was no cause during the second one. All young people should view the dvd of the first and only Woodstock and see how our prior generation did it. And how they tried to make a better life for all of us. It's a history lesson. And one that we need to relearn again now. It's not only about the music, it was about the message. A message that we have lost somewhere along the way. And Arlo's Coming into Los Angeles is a classic. Shame on radio for it's lack of airplay. Then and now.
