Whenever we got to Nags Head we can get a cool oldies station from Altantic City, WMID 1340 Am on the radio.http://www.classicoldieswmid.com/ They play alot of rare stuff & are really good. The whole trip between them and the Nags Head oldies channel & a coupla other oldies channels like one in the Wimington, NC area, we heard some stuff you never hear anymore. One day on WMID I heard an old soul song I hadn't heard in yrs & I can't remember who does it. The words they sing in it are "I Just Want To Testify What Your Love Has Done For Me Babe". I was wondering if there is anyone out there who might know who does it? Thanks to whoever knows...

Yup... It's David Bromberg... And I believe Sarah Lee Guthrie sings background vocals.

Thanks for the info ya'll. :) I suspect David Brombergs version may be a remake of it. Stupid computer here won't let me play it. Yikes. The version I heard of it was by a soul group & was the origional version. I'm wondering if it was by the Temptations but not sure. I'll keep looking for the origional version of it & hopefully get to hear David Brombergs version of it when I can get to another computer...

In my opinion... It doesn't get any better than DB's version!

I also asked about this song on Tommy James message board, another place I frequent to see if they knew too. Someone replied that that it was by the Parliaments which was a predecessor to George Clinto & Parliament/Funkadelic. They gave me this link with info on it:

So now I gotta find a copy of their version of it & meanwhile check out David Brombergs version of it. Thank again for the info everyone... :)

I think The Parliments, as they were called earlier with George Clinton, whose song I think it is, is the version, your referring to.

Sorry, forgot to read the last post again before posting. Oh, well, a little reinforcement, eh?

If it's the same song I'm thinking of Dave performs it on The Arlo Guthrie Show vhs if you can find one. Sure would be nice to see it released as a dvd!
