You might remember that Barry Cowsill of the 60's group the Cowsills died recently in Hurricane Katrina & they recently found him dead. I read that on Sat when they were having Barry's memorial service in RI they found out that another Cowsill brother Billy Cowsill had died. Buck Owens the country singer has died. I'm not sure what of. But I'd like to thank him & Roy Clark for saving me from the torture of Lawrence Welk. My mom always watched Lawrence Welk & so did Grandma. But when Hee-Haw came out Grandma switched from Lawrence Welk to Hee-Haw & so when Grandma would come to visit it meant Hee-Haw would be on. I got to the point that when Lawrence Welk I'd go to the other room & play rock & roll cuz I hated it so much lol. I had no idea he had written the song Act Naturally that the Beatles had done, until I saw him do it on Hee-Haw once. Accordionist, Myron Floren, from the Lawrence Welk Show, that aired for 27 years, died last year on July 23, 2005. I always liked his rendition of the Clarinet Polka.

Anyway, I would like to extrapolate a little. For those of you that would like to check it out, log onto Welk Music Group and take a gander of the labels they have, Vanguard and Sugar Hill. This is not a plug for Lawrence or the family run company, but he did have a lotta cats in his orchestra that could cook alot of things other than what he ordered. Many quite superb musicians. Every now and then, they did THEIR thing. Bread and butter? Simple,...do what the maestro asks of you, if you want to do it. If not, find another gig. Not only that, but I've seen alot of people laughing, dancing and singing.

I need to tell my mom about this since she likes Lawrence Welk. Maybe it might get her to like folk music lol...
