I'm a big fan of Diana Krall. Most of her stuff is remakes. When I hear the songs sung by the original artist or someone else I really don't care for those versions.

I was surprised though when I recently downloaded some Rosemary Clooney songs. Bette Midler did an entire CD or Rosemary Clooney songs and when I heard the original by Rosemary they were arranged almost exactly the same. I can say I enjoyed them just as much as Bette's versions. Bette also did a Patsy Cline CD.

I've heard the Lemonheads version of it. It's the only song I ever heard of them...

Pat Boone did white versions of a lot of black music in the fifties. His Tutti Fruittie was my favorite song when I was a wee toddler. Some of the black musicians were a bit resentful (rightfully so) but I remember seeing Bo diddley on tv, showing off his jewelry saying he can at least thank Pat for that since their versions never were allowed on the top forty airwaves.

Carl Perkins was scheduled to sing Blue Suede Shoes on the Ed Sullivan show but history was changed when he got in an accident and they put some hillbilly with a funny name on as his replacement.

Who sang Winchester Cathedral? Its tough for me to understand now, how at 8 or 9 years old, I could have felt like I lived the song...
