The Sept.-Oct. issue of "Mental Floss" magazine has a one page article titled "Les Miserables" about talented folks who had a tough life.
The largest, and only one with a photo, is about Woody Guthrie. They have titled it "Possibly The Best Company Misery Ever Had: Woody Guthrie"
It doesn't add any info that folks reading these postings wouldn't already know about Woody but thought I would pass it along anyway.

The magazine Weird NJ issue 20 has an article about the psychiatric hospital where Woody spent some time. The ruins of it at least. Seeing as I live in south Jersey, I found it at the Borders express at the Cherry Hill Mall. Don't know how avilable it is outside of weird New Jersey but maybe it can be ordered. Includes very tiny Arlo pics.

The Boston Sunday Globe Nov.27, 2005 Page K4 has a full page story with drawings titled: "Paintbrush Troubadour" written by Jennifer New.
It is about the new book "Woody Guthrie: Artworks" (Rizzoli) coauthored by Nora Guthrie and Steven Brower.

Hi to all the folksingers and to all the listeners.I recall a true story that Will Geer would share with the Audience right before the afternoon performance. I should make mention by the way when Woody was out in California Will and Woody did alot of hanging out together.To carry this out the right way picture Will sitting by himself very relax up on stage and keeping the Audience in the palm of his hands . Will would get himself into the right character you could almost see Woody up there talking himself. He began by saying Will a fellow came up to me the other day and he said to me I sure would like to sing and play that their guitar and Woody's reply was well you got to go out and get yourself a guitar then go and prop yourself up againt a wall closet to them their people walking down the street and when they start coming up to you to listen to ya then you'll know you've learned to play.Will Geer had a way talking to everyone I'll say goodbye for now to all the Folks Out in Folkland Sam
