A good friend of mine gave me a copy of his cd and it's pretty good stuff. She told me about his life, and it really is a sad story.

We have some Nick Drake music, thanks to Beverley Knowles. Nick Drake is another of many people to whom we owe a lot, and if we can pass on what they gave us, they're still here, in a way.

Nick Drake was neglected in his brief lifetime but has been discovered by music fans since his sad death. All his albums are very much worth hearing and, in my opnion, are among the greatest singer-songwriter recordings of our times. If you don't know Nick Drake, take some time to find out. Start with 'Five Leaves Left' and work from there. The 'Fruit Tree' box set is essential listening for all fans of excellent music. Nick was also a very fine acoustic guitar player.

You are completely right Singing Bear , i had seen a documantary abouth his life and music and i was impressed ( untill then i never knew him )

His life story kind of reminds me of Townes Van Zandt......

Yes, another tragic genius except it would seem that TVZ drank himself to death whereas Nick was either a victim of his depression or just made a big mistake with some prescription medication. Also, Townes loved playing to a live audience but Nick Drake wanted to shun the limelight.

Both of them were undoubtedly great artists.
