I've got my tickets for the Clearwater Festival and wonder if anyone has any advice as to how is it set up, what to look for, what not to forget to bring, parking advise...or any other tips to make the weekend even more enjoyable. Thanks for any suggestions

Taking the train to Croton-Harmon (or parking in the Croton-Harmon station parking) and riding the free shuttle bus to the festival is the nicest way to arrive. Have rain and sun protection including a big hat. You will be facing the sun in the open field that is seating for the main stage. Have a way to carry water. The Circle of Song is shaded and is on the north side of the park near where the boats are. There are free rides on the Woody Guthrie sailboat and the Clearwater charges a small fee. Try to sign up as early as possible if you want to sail. kurt...

plenty of food and drink available there, but very little in the way of shelter or seating. Bring something to sit on and an umbrella if there might be a chance of rain.

Is it possible to unload some things close to the festival and then go back and park the car and take the bus? I have trouble carrying things and have a small, collapsible wagon to carry our stuff. Might be difficult for the two of us to take on a bus, so would be helpful it there was a drop-off point.

Ok, if having your stuff is critical there is parking on the festival grounds. There is no "go in and out" for private vehicles. There is a two lane bridge from the shore to the park on which the buses have priority. Give yourself an extra hour in the morning to get to the festival parking. (I think it is a good 10-15 minute walk from the nearest parking to the gate itself.) Getting out in the afternoon or evening is at least a two hour operation so pack tons of patience because you will need extra for the other people in the traffic jam who forgot to bring theirs. You have to adore traffic jams to park on festival grounds. Not strong enough. Life without traffic jams is impossible. Closer.

No chance you could fit in one or two of those rolling suitcase with telescoping handle things? The bus is at worst (you get there when the door closes and one leaves so you have to wait for the next one) 30 minutes. Either way all day. kurt...

Thanks Kurt - you gave me a lot of valuable information! A rolling suitcase is a great idea! I'd rather take the bus anyway and now after your description of the parking nightmare, I will find a way to go that route.

I'm like a kid on Christmas. I've heard about Clearwater for years and now I'm so excited. Have my tickets in hand and a reservation for one of the sailings on Sunday.

I'm leaving tomorrow and our intentions are to also attend the Carnegie Hall concert Monday night.

Sunday was fun, even getting soaked to the skin halfway through Arlo's set during the monsoon.

I guess if you're gonna get soaked, it might as well be with clear water......
