I ran into an old friend's mother today, and I just had to stop for coffee. This bud of mine got stuck with a 3 year prison bid, around the late 70's. While in Fishkill, Pete Seeger came and spoke at the prison, and his full intent was to entertain. Being solo as he was(familie's of the inmates were allowed to attend) Pete said If I only had an extra guitar player, this might be more fun. You gents are probley pretty sick of this banjo by now. Well my friends mother spoke right up and told Pete, "my Bobby plays guitar" and Pete told him, come right up hear young man. So Bobby played "This land is your land" with Pete accompaning on banjo. After, a few select imates were allowed to jam with Pete for a grand finale. I always thought my friend Bobby made that story up, untill his mother told me about it in great detail. She said at first she was so scared of being in the prison, with all the prisoners. She only got relaxed when she saw her son Bobby on stage singing with Pete Seeger. All Bobby did in the joint was play guitar, but to have the guts to do it in front of the whole prison. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall. Bob told me for two hrs. he might as well of been on the moon. And this huge grin follows.......
