A book titled "On the Road With Bob Dylan" is about to be put back into print.
I have recently met the author of this book, because we have been playing pick-up ice hockey together, and learned of this. His name is Larry (Ratso) Sloman, and he was on the road with "The Rolling Thunder Review"( not to be confused with "The Rolling Blunder Review") <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15> back in the 70's, and this is where the book comes from.( I have yet to read it myself,but plan to). It turns out he also had a part in Bob's movie, "Renaldo and Clara" Playing himself as a newspaperman.(Arlo appeared in the same film)
Of further intrest to some, is that this same guy co-authored howard Sterns 2 books, and is at this time working with David Blaine, the magician, on a book as well.

I remember reading that book about 20 (or was it 25?) years ago. It seemed like it was more about Larry than Bob ... interesting, anyway. I'm glad it's being re-released because my old paperback copy disappeared years ago.

I have not read it yet, and I don't have a copy. But when I spoke to Larry(the other Larry) about it it, I said something to the effect that it would have been cool to be a fly on the wall for The Rolling Thunder thing, and he told me that's kinda what the book was, him as a fly on the wall. I will get around to reading this book!

Ok....the book is out! I got my copy a few days ago. Also of note is that "Ratso" was a guest on Vin Scelsa's "Idiots Delight" radio program last saturday night ( 9/7) on WFUV-FM New York. This show is already in the WFUV archives which is available on-line at http://www.wfuv.org .

I believe Ratso is also a character in
Kinky Friedman mystery novels, which bull
goose pete highly(heh heh) recommends. So,
check out some of the Kinkster's books, as
being an American, he'll consider it a financial pleasure!!! And Oh! almost forgot,
Mr. Sloman wrote another fine book called
"Reefer Madness", which is basically a history of the marijuana laws in the U.S. of

Larry also wrote "Steal This Dream", a biography of Abbie Hoffman.
And , he also wrote "Thin Ice: A season in Hell With the New York Rangers".

Oh yeah!! thanks Larry, I forgot about
"Steal this Dream"--I have not read the
N.Y. Rangers book, yet. Perhaps Ratso needs
a website all his own---I wonder if there
is one out there? Anybody know?

From the WFUV interview I learned that he has no website at present, but will have one at some point in the future. As I now see Ratso every week or three, I'll keep up with it and fill you in when it happens.

I spoke with Ratso last night, and got my copy "Ratsographed". He informed me last night that autographed copies of the book will be made available for sale soon on Bob Dylan's website.
Also, without opening too big a can of worms, for any of you folks that I know, or will see at the church in a few weeks, if you have a copy that you would like autographed, if you get it to me and supply the return envolope and return postage, Ratso said he would be happy to autograph them, and he or I could mail them back to you.
