The people in the Nashville Country Music
Hall of Fame are deciding whether or not to
put Woody Guthrie into the Country Music Hall
of Fame. Of course I say yes. Arlo Guthrie,
Ramblin' Jack Elliot, and Tom Paxton belong
there too. But not Pete Seeger, Kingston
Trio, or Peter Paul & Mary because they are
urban folksingers.

MaskedBob, why do you feel it so necessary to categorize artists? Many artists cross lines and are honored, for example, in both the Country Music Hall of Fame and in the Rock-n-Roll Hall...

Why not just enjoy the fullness of the diversity of music? It speaks to Urban people, Country people, Suburban people... hey... who are the SUBURBAN folksingers anyway?

It's ALL good, and regardless of what honors various artists receive, their music can be appreciated by anyone. How about some unity, rather than categorization, which leads to divisiveness?
