The Springfield Republican newspaper here in Western MA has a very interesting column by Tom Shea titled,"Stuff that legends - and books - are made of."

It tells the story of a book being written about Harry Simms (whose real name was Harry Hersh) who was from the Western MA ,graduated from a Springfield, MA high school and was once recognized for being the schoolboy selling the most papers in the city. But as Tommy Shea says, in the article "But, mostly, the man born on Christmas Day was a union organizer."

Stuart Hersh is working on a book about his Uncle Harry and Pete Seeger has already written the forward.

The last paragraph of the article (which should be read in its entirety-see link above) quotes Stuart as saying, "I think Uncle Harry would get a kick out of being remembered in his hometown paper, the one he used to deliver. " Especially on the day after Labor Day."
