...this photo was a half-page on the front of the local paper...accompanied by an article about the Folk Club of Reston-Herndon celebrating their 20th birthday. To make this topical, we HAVE had legends of Folk Music play there...we just had Bill Staines last Tuesday, and in the past we've had Tom Paxton, John McCutcheon, Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion,
(and we had Dave Van Ronk scheduled, but that got cancelled when he became ill) Harvey Reid and Joyce Anderson, Bryan Bowers, and a bunch more people, some of them who are also appearing or have appeared at The Guthrie Center Troubadour concerts.

Congrats to Sue! You look so at peace autoharping. Thanks for getting me into the autoharp. I've enjoyed becoming an autoharp & dulcimer player & getting into weird folk instruments like the canjo. That sounds like a fun club. I wish it were closer to me so I could go...

an authentic picture of cleopatra in the herndon newspaper!

There were a couple of inaccuracies in the article...dues are $15 a YEAR, not a month... (and you don't have to be a member to go and enjoy the music!) and the caption used below the photo in the newspaper identified the instrument I was playing as an "altoharp". English was a second language for the photographer/reporter, and he'd never seen or heard an autoharp before, so I think he did the best he could. By the end of the evening, he was singing along with the rest of us, and he had a good time! We were happy that the Herndon Times sent someone out, and that Folk Music got some publicity and space in the paper.
And now you all know where I am every Tuesday night...
