Anyone know an address where I could write a letter to$Pete?

Hmm, at the Beacon show pertaining to a School of the Americas rally, Pete said to write him care of Clearwater so that would probably work. Sing Out has a contact the author address that changed since the last issue. Now it's Pete Seeger c/o Sing Out! PO Box 5460, Bethlehem, PA 18015-0460

Pete is so well know, I would expect sending a letter to Pete Seeger, Beacon, NY 12508 would work.

Yup, Pete had something to do with getting the Clearwater built and still has a hand in it.

wrote a letter in my then 3yr olds name inviting Pete to perform at his Daycare...Pete wrote back on a Postcard, politely declining and stating something to the effect that he has neither voice nor time remaining...luckily, we've seen Pete perform 3 or 4 more times in the two years since receiving that postcard

Apparently, there have been an increase in calls and letters so it may take a while. Pete to listen to recorded music!

Be assured that Pete will get mail addressed to him in Beacon. For all of us who are filled with love and gratitude for him we often feel the need to let him know and to say thanks. He is unfailingly cordial to those who write and both he and his wife try hard to respond to everyone. But anyone of us who writes and just expects a reply, a critique of a song or, heaven forbid, an autograph, will have to remember that we are taking time from his personal interests, his needed rest, his family time and his creative pursuits. Answering the mail becomes a necessary burden. After all, he is almost 87! If I wrote, I would let him know that my children sing his songs, that I carry on the causes to which he dedicated his life, or I would offer him a gift of a new verse, cartoon or unique information about something that I knew interested him. I would expect nothing in return; he's already given me more than I can use in my own lifetime. Pete repels personal attention, because he feels he is just another person, a "link in the chain" and does not have false humility.
And he hopes we all will take up some small piece of some good works, make music and keep the humanities alive wherever we are, and keep on keeping on. That is the best way of honoring him.

I mostly just want to let him know how much he's meant to my life. I grew up on Pete Seeger songs, singing along with the Family Concert VHS tape. Since I've gotten older, though, Pete's meant a lot more to me: he's become my personal hero. I myself am an avowed Marxist. The fact that he was able to stand up for his belief through the hardship he experienced in the Red List era has really inspired me. I'm not really expecting a reply (though it'd be nice, I don't think writing to a guy like Pete just for a response is quite appropriate), I really just want him to know how much he's meant to me and what role he's played in shaping me as the person I am today.
