Saw some rumours in swedish newspapers that Bruce Springsteen is working on a new album called "The Seeger Sessions", which is supposed to contain songs both inspired by and written by Pete Seeger. Any of you guys have some additional info on this?
Thanks in advance.
Peace,
Hakan, Sweden

Springsteen has always been o folkie at heart. Just listen to his Woodie covers (he does an amazing I Aint Got No Home and Vigilante Man) and you can hear it, plus his little hommage to Woodie (if you pay attention) in Ghost of Tom Joad. He's got a great style, and I'd love to hear Bruce do some old Pete stuff: De Colores, Guantanamera, Abiyoyo, If I Had A Hammer.....who knows, maybe he can even throw down Take It From Dr. King!

Well here's the news on the upcoming "We Shall Overcome/The Seeger Sessions" album by the Boss, due out April 25th!

He'll even be doing a small tour to coincide with the album. Now we gotta see about getting Pete up on the stage with Bruce if he hits the Garden, wouldn't THAT be a NIGHT?

There is a nice interview with Pete on the new album in The Star-Ledger but it does cost your zip code and birth year.

Thanks for sharing Kurt!
Interesting reading and as I said before; hopefully this will mean that more people will learn more about Pete and his work. We sure could use that in our day and age. This got me thinking about when I was a kid in the seventies and we would sing Seeger songs in music class (we even had a video of Pete singing We shall overcome that we would watch). I doubt it very much that kids today in Sweden even know anything at all about Pete, Woody or the similar people that we had here in Sweden.
Peace,
Hakan
