In todays NY Times Crossword puzzle (10-19-06 page E6) note clue #4 (it's down, but today's puzzle has no A/D clues, as all dual direction numbers share the clue)

didn't take long to figure that one out, especially since I knew it began with 'A'

Now if only the other 69 answers would be as easy...

So does this make adg "highbrow"?

That is neat. I've seen him in the TV Guide puzzle a few times...

We have a game show here called Temptation where three people compete by answering general knowledge questions. A few weeks ago one of the answers was "Restaurant". I bet we can all kinda guess what the question was!!!!

My mother does crossword puzzles every morning, and Arlo turns up quite often. Used to be she didn't know what it was supposed to be, but after a few times when I asked "how many letters" and she said 4, she gets it without my help.

Oddly, enough, Woody rarely turns up in puzzles, unless it is a special clue or something.....

What's next? Dancing with the Stars maybe?

Somehow, "Arlo" and "Square" don't seem to fit together... so if Arlo IS a square, it would HAVE to be a secret!

Now that Arlo is a part of a square Hollywood Squares would be the next step for him

Arlo is mentioned in Stephen Kings new (not newest) book "Gerald's Game" about half way thru. I have seen "Woody's son - four letters" in the NY Times for years... so congratulations on the step up from NYT Crossword puzzle to science fiction!!!

By the way - JohnC finishes both NYT's puzzles so fast its downright annoying!!! Four letter word for J_ _ _. ha ha.

Awesome! I oughta buy myself a copy of that book. Or better yet to save money on a four letter name on one page, I will read the book until I find Arlo's name tear out that page and all of the other copies on the shelf and stuff them in my purse. Lastly I will bring the book up to the counter and tell the sales associate that all of the books are defective-one page missing....You can't get arrested for namenapping
