Have you ever seen 'Time Bandits'/// it's a great flick.... Don't know how I could mix it up with the princess bride, unless there is a princess in time bandits. I'm forgetting.

I haven't viewed the film since the 80's.... So I'm gonna give it a go...

I have Time Bandits, only because George Harrison produced it and recorded music for the movie. So when I heard he did the same for Princess Bride, I saw it as an extension of that.

Have George and Arlo ever played together? Maybe I should have searched before I asked, but...you can't always be doing what you're supposed to be doing. I heard that from someone wise...

Yes, Andre the Giant played Fezzick. Anyone who likes the movie should check out the book by William Goldman, which he called The Princess Bride, (the good parts version)

Bass, well I least I had one thing right about the damn movie. I had remembered that Andre had a major part in the film. How I got it confused with the movie " Time Bandits" is beyond comprehension... Only the fact I'm getting older, and my brain, passes wind from time to time...


Z-Man: As far as I know... ( and I've followed Arlo's carreer since the mid 80's after I thought him to be a washed up, surfer with a Golden Tan somewhere in Jamica)(history reminds me, my girlfriend bought me Alice's Rest. Mascacre L.P> on my 12th birthday.... The next yr. her Mom took us to an Arlo concert at a local college... ( which he returned to every few yrs. even tho college students did everything but throw bricks at him for NOT doing Alices.... I was very impressed the second time I saw him, as he told rebelious fans, hey, you all wanna hear Alice... Go out in the Lobby and buy the Record. Then he played just about everything off Washing County!!! I liked that in him, and thought him a rebel..... But after the yrs. I lost track sorta... I mean I had all his albums I knew about... ( my favorite is still his second album titled 'Arlo' recorded in NYC with the FBI story on it!!!!

* OH YEAH, my first dissapointment, when I first saw him live, was he had cut his hair short...... ( after we had watched the movie, and were part responcible for making it the cult classic it is today.. well it's much more than that. Noststalgic comes to mind)

But just when I thought Arlo was dead, I was watching the Grand ol Opry TV station at my Dad's house one night.... And the guy introduced, Woody Guthries son, Arlo Guthrie was gonna play the opry... ( I thought OH GOD- this can't be good, they are still having to introduce him as Woodys son)( but as meager a guy I am, I still get that here.... My Dad's alive, and a huge business man... very successufll in certain circles... So when people say, who the fuck are you.. Bob Brown, never heard of you. I can always say, my father is Lawrence Brown, and then they offer to buy me drinks, and ask me all about my old man. So in some small meager way, I do know how that felt, growing up!!!!!


But anyhow, AG came out, and the cowboy hat turned me off. And he played a rustic version, of 'Little East Texas Red'.... And I saw all the long grey hair, and kinda saw he was more or less, doing what the opry wanted. ( I COULD BE WRONG>> THERE"S A FIRST time for everything!!! LOL

But I wasn't totally excited, and thought, man what the hell happened to that guy...????????????????????????

Untill the Shades of 89 tour, I took my wife to her first Arlo show.... Alone and Alive, and Alone... ( something like that read on the billboard out front) He was definately alone.... But he played with such vigor, and came out, and busted loose with some Woody songs, with a freshness about them, I was mezmorized..... Then he played allot of leadbelly, and again, I was totally mezmerized.... Then he sang his heart out, did Alices, The Motor cylce song, " Coming into L.A." with a long winded story of going to Woodstock, and being on Acid, and fallen thru the stage.... It is one of my best memorys...

As my wife had never seen him, but she had sat on my back porch many a night, and listened to the B. side of Alice ( I always played the B. side.. the one with all those great Folk songs ) and Hobo's Lullabuy, and Washington County... Man I had em all... & it was that nite, I realized, my wife had fallen in love listening to those same songs.... They had become a part of us.... And when she as holding my hand, and got all sentimental, when he did, 'Ocean Crossing' it was kewl man..... It's nice to be in love, and have somones's songs, intergrate your life, and fill you with emotion.. Words can never do the man Justice....


Arlo's Church has helped me out in ruff times in my life... I won't elaborate, it's kinda personal.... but they were there for me, when it counted,,, and it means so very, very much to this very day, untill eternity...


NOPE: I"VE NEVER heard of ADG and George Harrison collaborting on ANYTHING>>>> I always thought, when Roy Orbinson Died Arlo would make the perfect, Willbury....... but then again, adg, had always beat the drum, to his own drummer......

Like I say I could be wrong.... I'm sure he met the man, I don't dought...So If I'm wrong. Maybe the folkslinger will post himself something about it???

ANYHOW: All this rambling....
