I just tried to look on the farm aid website but I can't find it

I just checked and they said that the week of free viewing is up. Now they're available at a place called the 'farmyard' for farmaid members only. Its probably a worthy cause to join---I'm sure the farmers need bailing out too!!! Sorry.....

I managed to find it last night and watched it. I'll go see if I can hunt for it again.

This was Tom Paxton's song...my husband got to play backup--mandolin and pedal steel and banjo-- for Tom twice when he came to the area. A friend of ours has a music store, and Tom called it to dig up some locals to play with him, so she and my husband happily volunteered. Apparently that's his practice.

He was funny and sweet, and I got to buy him fried chicken. My brush with fame. Yes, he shook this hand. Touch it if you like.

Yes,..... I met Arlo when he was in MY neck of the woods. (A bit younger than Tom Paxton, but almost as famous).

He didn't touch my hand, but he DID autograph my twelve-string guitar.


(And I didn't even have to buy him chicken).

Pretty neat story. Had no idea he came that way. My high speed dsl internet got enacted today so I am flying fast. Whee...

Tom Paxton lives in Arlington, VA...not too far from me. About five years ago, he performed in community-organization- sponsored free to the public family concerts with Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer at Reston Town Center, a couple of miles from me. He requested help from my folk club (which he's attended from time to time, and performed for us, too) to sell merchandise. What the heck! I volunteered! He handed me his bank pouch brimming with $5 and $10 bills for change, his car keys (so I could go get more CD's if I needed them) his credit card machine and slips, a price list, and then walked away totally unconcerned for sound check. We sold a LOT of stuff for Tom and CF and MM (a couple more Folk Club friends showed up to help) and we balanced out just fine at the end of the evening. He and the ladies did this for about three years in a row, and I volunteered each time. About a year ago, I attended a concert of his at the Barns of Wolf Trap...he said, "I know you, but I can't remember why!" I reminded him about doing his merchandise a few times...yeah, he then remembered my name.

Pretty cool. I'd read he lived out your way. I always liked his Marvelous toy song...

Thanks! I'm thrilled too. I just came back from a local bluegrass jam. The folks in the church basement, I played with them & we did Woody's Going Down The Road Feeling Bad. I had the dulcimer going. When that group quit playing I went upstairs to heard the other group play. And they did it too. Woody is all around...

so I'm brand new to the forum here, but not the earth, having been around about as long as Arlo hisownself. I have enjoyed plunking out "I'm changing my name to Chrysler" for 20 years or so. I like the upgrade. My curiosity -- pretty sure Paxton wrote the first one. Did Arlo do the new one?
