We'd run you for Congress on the Coffee Party ticket but we like you too much.

" Please feel free to take issue with me on anything"

Ok. Do you think the Ethiopians have the original ark of the covenant?

If Arlo's a republican, Woody's spinning in his grave and for God's sake, DON'T tell Pete Seeger! It would kill him. Say it ain't so, Arlo!

If I'm not mistaken, Arlo changed parties in hope of changing the R's from the inside. Get enough of us to do that, and it CAN happen.

Besides, I would think A. is more a Lincoln R than a Bush R.

adg,I've had people in the past here on these very boards accuse me of being lucid. I've been working hard for years to dispell this myth.
Of course when you go back and re-read stuff you wrote, it almost always sems lucid to you, because you know exactly what you are talking about. At least that's how it works for me.
When people accuse some of us here of repeat lucidity, the next step is that they accuse you of hoarding the collective blunderite brain cell. Trust me, I know. It's a tough stigma to shed sometimes, even with efforts like the one I'm putting forth now.

I dunno, LIEberman may be an an elephant in donkies clothing, even with the independant label affixed.
But I'm probably like most people when I say that I'm fed up in large part with both elephants and donkies.
I'm thinking we need some new kinda animal........an eagle maybe?
Perhaps even a goose, a Giant Clam or even one of those flying squirrels......I don't know.
Being faithful to a party is not patriotism, it's "lemmingism". We don't need lemmings, we got enough already.
Being faithful to ideals and principals they make your country better is patriotism, regardless of labels.

I totally agree with what Larry wrote........I don't know if this happened to anyone else, but as I was reading his post, my computer was playing "This Land is Your Land" in the background

(about the independent thing) i just don't understand how a person who has registered (as a voter) as independent can be listed anywhere as republican (instead of independent)...and didn't even vote for a republican (just not feeling them at this time)

i know i am not "supposed" to be using labels...but how else can i put it!

that's all
carry on!

Hehehe. I guess I have a label. I wish I knew what to do. People call me a yellow dog democrat. Been voting since '76 and always voted dem in every presidential election...voted independent in a lot of primaries though...

Yes, but in the same way those French guys in the castle in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" claimed to already have a grail themselves.
