Really in my mind... its such a fine mind... the only difference I see from the left and right is how they fell about abortions. I see that issue today, as slavery was 200 odd years ago, they decided they couldn't end it, and left it for another generation. If they would do that today, and listen to what other progressives have to say about things like Unions, and restore them; we could cut down the number of abortions in half in 20 years. Because more families would be able to afford kids.

....Conservatives today are not what conservatives once were. The new conservatism is social conservatism, not fiscal or smaller government consevatism. And to folks that think like this, it's largely about retaining rights and wealth for themselves, and denying the same to others behind the mask of "values"....

Yes, or to put it another way, it's like "Gordon Gekko goes to Washington", daytraders using taxpayer money. To me, both major parties are like big fast food franchises. It's late at night, you're tired, and you're hungry, and Burger King and McDonalds are the only places open. So, what to do?

This should be a quote from Samuel Adams:
Quote

Quote from Samuel Adams
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, — go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!”

Capitalism values wealth over liberty. Socialism values liberty over wealth.

Today, they all seem to be out for the wealth, or they both would start pouring in trash/cash of their wealth.

That will be the day we all start sharing this Land... or it can come to Isaiah 23:17-18 where the wealth is spread out, or they are thrown in prisons as Isaiah 24:21-24 talks about. (i think those Bible verses apply to today, more than Haggie, Robertson or others ever talk about.)

I think Dub has done right well under pressure. I know it's hard for him running the country & esp with alot of folks downing him. We don't have health insurance cuz it costs more than we can afford. Fortunately we are both under a free medical pan at a local teaching hospital where those without insurance can get their medical care free. It's been a real blessing for us as our medical care is more than we can afford. I don't know all that much about Bushes polices on healthcare tho...

Last year when my daughter dropped down to part-time, she lost her coverage for that semester. Of course, just a few days after the loss of coverage, she had food poisoning! The thought of being without insurance terrifies me.

Just one visit to a hospital can totally wipe you out.

I've snipped off the recent posts on this thread, and sent them over to Topical Tropical Discussion - Mental Health (lack of) Care... where I think it'll find a good home!

This puppy was way off topic...

Thanks Arnie.

Yeah, its hard work. Got to come in on Saturdays to figure out how to maximize profits for my divested and soon to be re-vested companies. Got to take care of all my cronies and their companies. Got to keep people believing in the wot. Got to work through breaks to make people believe I only want to democratize all these folks. I stole the presidential seal off of the presidential podium, twice. Its hard.

Pass that thing...We are looking at the worst so called president this country has ever seen. We will be lucky if we recover.

I wish you would ask yourself...Am I better off than I was at the end of the century?

The only way you could be is if you are riding the graft train, and feeding from the trough of coporate welfare.

Well, at least the FBI knows they are gunna have a new boss soon. They have raided the office of a D.C. special prosecuter that handles whistle blower stuff......the same guy that let Condi Rice of the hook for spending some of our money during the Bush re-election effort or something. Can't wait to see how much more of this stuff shakes out now that were are nearing the long overdue end on an error.
