OK folks I got the exact words of the unsolved title of the song that Arlo sings in the film scene where he is wearing the red shirt, playing guitar, and playing harp and singing. I had to dig deep into my closed captioning button on the groove tube. The lyrics go like this:

Best ballad to date? Nah, but the plot is sure groovy. I think an old song you wrote 'Days are Short' is one of your finer ballads. Something about the lyrics. the line 'lookin in my suitcase for a friend', sorta says it all, in this dazed out world, we live in.

I could compare that line, to 'Diamond Deserts'. And everyone knows that's pure genious.

I'm not quite so sure artist write songs like that anymore? BUT, that gets down to the, one can only LISTEN to so many songs therory...

That's a long time ago - hard to remember. But, I think there were two songs that were going home kind of songs. We used one on the first record, the other didn't make the cut, but did have a snippet in the film which was made the following year. Don't think the whole song appears anywhere, but maybe some of the old tapers will know...
