maybe we are still at least one step behind the way we should be to create a world of peace and understanding. We do not need hurricanes to find that out, it only shows quite well in such catastrophes.

Well it looks like some people are going forward. Some have found their children and other lovedones. Some have gotten jobs and found homes. Some are getting money they need and one person said she could not believe all the love given by her fellow Americans. We should all be proud of these people. They have been through so much and they have a long way to go before they reach home. These people are very strong and I have to say I don't know if I could have handled this as well as some of these people have. Keep the support going America.

I think that Barbara Bush's comments should be taken in the context in which they were offered. I've never thought of her as being insensitive. I think she really was saying, "all things considered."

As for W being at fault, while I'm not normally (or ever) a W-defender, in this case I do explicitly recall hearing him declare a federal emergency for the Gulf Coast on Saturday, BEFORE the storm hit... so that would clear the way for FEMA, the governors and the mayors of all states and cities within Katrina's reach to get the aid they'd need immediately. So please... give Barbara and son a tiny break on this one. Just because, on the whole, we don't generally speaking (Cheryl excluded) like W, that doesn't mean he's 100% evil... I truly believe he has a heart and cares about all the "refugees," "displaced people," "evacuees," or whatever you choose to call them.

Please... let's stop all this political correctness too, while we're at it... just call a spade a spade and be done with it... we certainly don't have to agree with each other... this is making for great conversation and we are all entitled to our feelings on all the matters pertaining to the current situation.

I agree with you on all points made. I don't think Barbara is a cruel person. I don't think the pres is a evil person either. No one ordered this storm up it just happened.

No, I've kinda concluded that Bush is evil. To send people to die with bullshit justification alone tells me he's evil. His mom may only being a mom or an ostrich.......but at best she is clueless.
