Willie Nelson wished you well before playing City of New Orleans

I was very dissappointed about Farm Aid in general. I didnt like the venue at all - the set up was horrible - Diamond vision screens only in the center, if you were off to the side you could barely see them (there were 3). HUGE columns you couldnt see around...Rocks in the lawn area, and no handicapped section at all - at least in the lawn section - even the ramp for the handicapped was on such a steep angle, no one used it.

The sound system didnt work half the time - We missed 1/2 of Willies speech and a part of a few songs - and of course the weather was very disappointing. I'm used to festivals where the feeling and the people are way different. There was an UNBELIVABLE about of alcohol sold and consumed which Im used to at Willie gigs but - it resulted in a lot of falls and fights - which made my SIL a little uncomfortable I think - as well as some other people near us that left early.

I did get a kick out of seeing Jerry Lee Lewis tho - and now I can say Ive seen John Mellencamp - although I thought he was a little too theatrical (Tom Jones ish) he had a nice voice. I went to the BR during Dave Matthews who was on too long (Must have stretched him to cover ADG's spot).

I thought it was cute that Willie came out at the end and announced that Arlo was supposed to lead off the last set with City of New Orleans...(all the major people were on stage at that point). Willie said "so I'll have to TRY to do it for him" and then wished Arlo a speedy recovery. It's the first time in 30 years I've ever seen Willie lead off his set with something other than Whiskey River. (He did that 2nd). But I got a kick out of the 74 year old having to cover for the under the weather "kid". Willie is a force.

All in all, Im glad I went (to support the effort), but I don't think I will be going back to the Tweeter Center anytime soon.

Thanks, Reg. Ever since I found out that Farm Aid was coming to a "local" venue, I was kicking myself for not having waited before moving out here. With Arlo ill and your show report, I'm not disappointed that I missed it. I've seen Willie before (at a GREAT venue), and he's terrific.

Sorry to miss Arlo at farm aid, guess he had some of the old dusty pneumonia blues, sad to say this but im 21 had heart transplant last year, and my mom has stage 4 cancer, grew up listen to arlo, really the reason i went to farm aid, disappointing i didnt get to see him, hopefully he comes back to the area soon, i 2nd the guy the sound was terrible, especially earlier on.
