Has Alice Rest. ever been recorded by anyone beside Arlo? I am looking for a cover version

Hi, Bill, long time no see! How've you been? I wish I coulda been at The Church this weekend, too.

For those who haven't been to the church, there just isn't any place like it. It is on my list for the spring though. There was too much going on for me to get up there this weekend, but I'll head up in May for sure, as long as other things don't get in the way. Like I said, there just isn't anyplace like the church. I just feel at home there....

I believe a cover version was done by a folk singer named Peter Lafarge back in the 60's I think. Not sure what kind of record it is on but I think it may be a rare version. Also blues singer Dan Stevens did it at a show of his I went to in Nags Head a few yrs back tieing it in with an old blues tune that sounds similar...

Rumor has it that Sarah Lee is working on it.......maybe!

Well I know that there have been strong hints that Sara Lee learn it. To me, though, it is and should always stay a one-man song.

Dan Stevens just sings the chorus. He wouldn't try to do the whole thing, even though he's a good storyteller himself.

Seems almost sacreligious....

The New York Times today Nov. 5, 2006 on page 18 has an article titled, "Investigation at the C.I.A. Looks for Favors Among Friends" written by David Johnston.
In it there are references to a lobbying firm named "Group W. Advisors."
A short time ago Arlo noted Congressmen sitting right there on the Group W bench next to him now I guess he may have to add a lobbying firm as well.
A subtitle describes the situation as " A complex mix of murky undercurrents in a surreptitious world."
Now that certainly captures the essence of the "Group W bench"

Never would have thought it was possible (even Alro, Abe, Sarah Lee couldn't remmeber the words in Sydney.... or so it goes).

We have a tradition of playing the "refrain" every year about this time for a great percussion jam with my patients at Westborough State Hospital, but the idea of story telling while playing simutaneously is a ol' tradition I have only heard Arlo (and a few other folk people) from way back (dare I mention) Bob Dylan....(Talking Bear Mountain Picnic....John Birch Society Blues). Good luck finding a cover version....check www.archive.org for an obscure arlo cover band (if it exists) and when you get consternated dig the 2000+ gd shows. But the blunder question is: why are you looking for a cover version of Alice's Restaurant anyway ?

my son has a radio show at his school. he playes a lot of cover songs. mostly punk song, but i get one pick every week and thought with T day coming up a cover of Alice's Rest would be great.
