Oh, I wish I was there too - but its a little far - and I'm an invalid right now with pneumonia.

I see even "Hanoi Jane" was there. There's lots of people
who won't like that, but she'll never make things right with them, but
all I can say is GO JANE!!!

I went to the one in Columbus
Lots of older people there (even older than Me or ADG)
Seen several Vietnam Vet hats and jackets
Talked to a World War II Veteran
I am only 50 miles away, but some I talked to
had come a good long distance
probably half the people I talked a bit with
said it was the first protest they ever went to
Sure need more to Stand Up and be counted tho

Thanks for the info AG! Hope Tommy gets better soon. While I'm not into the anti Iraq protests, I did once in the latter days of Nam participate in a student sit in. We were all gonna sit in this building in Richmond to either protest Nam or Nam & bad food & wouldn't want to leave until the war stopped. They told us we'd had to leave the building or else lol so we had to leave lol. I thougt Hanoi Jane had quit protesting. Guess not...

I was FAR FAR FAR away!! I wish I could have been there.

WASHINGTON - A Senate Republican on Tuesday directly challenged President Bush's declaration that "I am the decision-maker" on issues of war.

"I would suggest respectfully to the president that he is not the sole decider," Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., said during a hearing on Congress' war powers amid an increasingly harsh debate over Iraq war policy. "The decider is a shared and joint responsibility," Specter said.

January 27th began with an energizing rally on the National Mall and, with the Capitol building as the backdrop, the message of the day was crystal clear. It is time for Congress to use its Constitutional powers and to act on the mandate of the November elections -- it is time for Congress to stand up to Bush and end this war. But the rally was just the beginning.

And then, hundreds of thousands of people marched around the Capitol. If you have never been to Washington, it might be hard to imagine what this looks like, but this is a very large area. As far as we know, this is the first time -- ever -- that any protest has surrounded the Capitol. On top of that, the U.S. Capitol Police, over the weeks leading up to the march, had refused to grant our permit request to do just that, telling us we had to take another route. But when we brought 500,000 people and several members of Congress -- they had to change their minds. In the end, with no incidents, we marched around the Capitol! By the time the front of the march got back to the starting point, the last of the marchers were just leaving the rally site -- we had completed the circle.
